SPDDMN's Winter build/Projects

BIG UPDATE!

This is no longer a valvetrain build...building the whole thing and adding nitrous to sweeten the deal.
And there a few other things we are trying to see what and how much we can gain or improve how fast
she revs.
The car will stay with the M62 unless I come across a deal on a TVS I cant pass up.
And so here's the plan...

Goals for the finished build:
320ish HP off spray
380ish HP on spray
Able to be daily driven.
Put pretty much everything on the street in its place.

Parts I have:
80# injectors for teh E
lsjion Ported head(porting underway atm)
Valves, lash adjusters, rockers
Badass Blue PRS tow hook thanks to 574!
80# Pwerks valve springs
OEM Retainers
ARP Head studs
valve seals
SC gaskets
9.5:1 Diamond pistons(pending)

Needed Parts:
OTTP S4 cams
Timing set
Head gasket
Electric Water Pump
ATI OD damper
Block
Crank shaft
Piston Rings
Machined Timing Cover
WOT Box
2.7 or 2.6 pulley
Rod bearings
NX Nitrous Kit
I know theres tons more but this be the big stuff.

Optional Parts:
LS4 TB
New exhaust(if i have funding)
Return style fuel system.

Other Projects as I wait:
Custom Coil/fuel rail/fuse box covers
Repainting Calipers and Rims
Underhood headlight covers-Half done, picts on page 2.
Custom houndstooth interior, paying homage to the '68 Camaro, plus i rather like houndstooth...

I'll be happy as long as i break 300 whether its whp or chp. I like to set my goals a bit high so I'm more motivated to attempt to achieve it. And whats life without hopes and dreams

Pushing 2k after buying a head and getting port n polish done and if i buy the rest at brand new prices. Hoping black friday will be good to me lol

I looked at doing a total rebuild be thats about 5k total and if i went that route id want to go turbo so id be looking at 7k+ and thats not really doable at the moment.

Plan is top end this year, bottom end next year, and corvette or something v8 n fast the following year. Dont worry the cobalt will probably be around until i cant keep it alive any longer lol.

Armcclure made 318 on a similar set up.
S2 cams, ported Saab head (pretty much stock lsj head). No ATI. I think he was on a 2.6.

does the ati bolt right up or does it need a machined case or something? or was that only for LNFs? I only remember something of that nature a long time ago.

you need to get a clearance front cover from zzp for both the o.d. and the u.d. unit

The head is on its way 320 should be do-able with enough rpm and the S3 cams. I've been impressed with the setup on my gray car, and thats through a stock catback and only reving to 7600.

I have a similar build on my car right now. I haven't dynoed mine because my lca bushings are out. 320 should be doable.

Dropping to a 2.7 (or lower) might help. my s2's on a 2.7 without an ati dampener (yet) pulls hard all the way up to 7500 (my shift point for now).

How long since you have had a m62 rebuild? How long have you been on the 2.9? Might be worth considering.

Don't waste your money on NBS when you can delete them. It is the best option. I know mr b helped blkwdoss with his and there is a kit out there that does it for you. Just my .02

Why are you doing these? Valves, lash adjusters, rockers. Which valves did you get?

What exhaust setup were you going to upgrade to? Your 3 inch is a pretty solid setup as is. Only thing I would think about is an electric cutout for dyno and track purposes of cource :P

As stated befor ATI OD, no UD

If you go LS4 tb, make sure you port the inlet of the SC to match.

what's your plans for IAT's? Installing the cams will help but pulleying down and/or OD pulley won't

@thegov I have thought about a little nitrous but I'd like to see what I can do without first.

@slitterell ill be rebuilding the blower with this build, should have added that to my other projects. I'm on a3.1 now actually. I dont want to pulley down too far because of heat.
OEM valves, rockers, adjusters.
Riceburner and I are mulling over a few ideas on iats and I've been watxhing blackwaters thread pretty close.
