The stock pump can easily flow up to 400hp worth of e on a turbo setup. If it follows a flow vs pressure curve even remotely close to most pumps out there, it's going to flow 600 worth at zero pressure (in a surge tank).
Let's say theoretically it's flowing 1gpm (for easy math) through a 1 gallon surge tank, assume that's enough for 500whp.
You're making 600whp which is 20% more fuel than the lift pump can flow.
It would take FIVE MINUTES of continuos wot without stopping to drain the surge tank.
Say you're making 700whp. That's still TWO AND HALF minutes of sustained wot to drain the surge tank.

These aren't salt flat cars.

The pump doesn't completely stop, it just loses pressure depending on how low you're running the tank.

But let's entertain the theory that the in tank pump is completely starved.
You STILL have to drain both the canister AND surge tank which would take nearly a FULL MINUTE of non stop wot.
And that's not even taking into account the slug of fuel it's going to pick up between shifts and when you get to higher gears.
There is NO car on this forum or any other delta forum that can even come CLOSE to provide a full minute of forward g-forces and completely empty the surge tank.
Even running on fumes.

I don't get why you knock on the surge tank idea so bad.

I did the math and laid it out for you to prove my point. If you want to claim otherwise, show your reasoning.

It's not just accelerating for a minute. It's accelerating without interruption (no gear changes) with high enough g-forces to starve the canister of fuel. Not gonna happen.

if that's truly your belief, then so is a cell. Stop band aiding things and fix it.

He ran a dual in tank pump AND did that on a dyno. Zero g-forces.
At the track he was pulled back to around 700 and made sure he had enough fuel in the tank so that fuel pickup wouldn't be an issue.

So I respectfully ask you to try again.

math dose not take an account for every thing and again zzp did it with out. a surge tank is good for curvy racing not so much for strait line

Zzp still had problems going below a half tank at the track.
Please explain how a surge tank is good for curvy but not straight line. Because the logic doesn't work.
The math DOES take into account for everything. If there's something I missed, tell me. I'll add it in.

When you look at it logically, a surge tank is great for all forms of racing. It's a rear sump cell that is limited to only drag.

You can't just keep saying I'm wrong without giving a valid reason, while I'm here giving detailed explanations for my reasoning.

i don't notice the trim restorants/shiners much at all once they dry. i'd fancy a permanent fix - paint.

maybe some black dip and gloss would work out nice
