I have a Spec Stage 3 in my 06 cobalt ss s/c. I have 280 whp and have no slipping at all! It is a very harsh engagement though. nothing like stock! Id recommend atleast 800-1000 miles of no beating on it for break in. I did 1000 and it is so awesome. No slipping at all! Straight wheel spin or total traction all the time. Works great for me. I had it installed with someone who had many years of Spec experience. They deal with spec all the time and said the install was easy and there were no problems at all!

Stage 3 handles 450tq so it should not slip at all with as little power the RL or SS is giving it. I am having my Spec stage 3+ installed in the within the next 2 weeks. I believe its about 480tq. They do have a certain break in period so take it easy for a little while and it shouldn't slip.

Stage 3F: More aggressive then stage 3, with a disk simular to stage 5. This is streetable, but much harsher then stages 1-3. The new ferametallic material is designed to hold up to higher temperatures.
TORQUE CAPACITY: 585 lb-ft
TORQUE CAPACITY: 585 lb-ft
I have the Stage 3+ (Spec 3f) and it doesn't slip at all. 800miles of breakin.
Clutch pedal feel on the Spec 3+ was almost like stock with a little bit stiffer pedal feel. The pressure plate sure bites..... and the clutch grips great. Big difference there. I put 800miles on the clutch and then started to get on it. This thing grips, no slipping and chirping gears on every shift.
Feel like I regained another 50hp..lol.... but it's just because my stock clutch was slipping. The difference is amazing.

My Stage 3+ engages great on the street and I drive 100miles daily to work. Shifting is good, just a little grabby when going slow but purely streetable. It's not like a race clutch.

I didn't know the exact # on the 3+ but now I know it holds 585lb/tq thats even better. Glad to hear that it feels good and grips like a champ! This should help put down the power needed. Did you install a flywheel aslo? I payed $985 for the 3+ and fidanza flywheel.

Please keep in mind guys, for OUR cars, the only ones worth buying are the spec 2+ and the spec3+, no inbetween's! Remember, it's not the horsepower that kills clutches, it's the torque! Our cars don't make very much torque, plus, our cars aren't that heavy. I think a 2+ is plenty for the majority of the people on the board. I don't see anyone making more than 385 ft lbs of torque with the stock blower, unless your running nitrous. If you are going to do a power adder swap (whipple, turbo) or if you're going to use nitrous, get the 3+.

i dont see any reason why a 2+ wouldnt hold up. it's not a 3+, but take into consideration how much stronger the clutch is than stock.
i dont have any first hand experience with a stage 3 clutch... but i would think that it is a bitch to drive at low speeds or just cruising. as long as you dont beat up the clutch, should be fine. personally, im going to be getting a 2+.
does anyone have an aftermarket flywheel? i'd be curious to see how much the everyday-driver appeal deminishes.
