SS OIL Change????

K So i went to change my oil today on my SS. I jacked it up got underneath. I was a bit
confused when I couldn't find the filter. I found it eventually, next to the throttle body and tucked under a plethera of crap. Here is the question:

Has anyone gotten the filter out and how?

I understand it's a canister yadda yadda yadda. I just don't know how the heck to get to it without removing a bunch of stuff.

PLEASE HELP, I'd rather not go to the dealer.

I think the best way is to remove your S/C so that you have direct access to it.

Totally agree. I'm ignoring the oil life for the first change and doing it at 3,000mi as per my dealer instructions. I have about 750 miles to go before I need to do it. I was kind of hoping to do it myself but I definitely would like to look at a how-to guide before jumping into the task...

He means you need the extender for the socket (I believe the socket is 1 1/8) to get the filter cartridge out. Once it is loosened you pull out the filter cartridge with your hands out from underneath the s/c...

How to change the filter

you need a 1 1/4" socket and an extension on the socket so it can fit down onto the top of the oil filter, and a wrench to attach it to the extension and socket (to turn the the top of the oil filter) once you break the top of the oil filter loose turn it the rest of the way by hand and lift it out, take the old filter out, snap the new filter in, set it back into the oil filters hole and twist on by hand, then give it a snug turn with the wrench

Mission Accomplished.

I took some fenageling but with a 32mm socket with a 10 inch extender I was able to loosen the filter then with two hands I was able to lift it up and pull it out towards the front and out. After that it was a breeze. Thanks for everyones input. Next time I will take some photos and do a step by step how to for everyone.
