SS/SC Hp question...

Alright I'm new to the delta platform and Cobalts in general and I was wondering what is the base Hp rating on the SS/SC models? I've seen 205 in the brochures and I've also seen them pull 195 on the dyno. I've seen the 195 numbers on the T.V. show Street Tuner challenge. Are these numbers based from Crank Hp or is it based on WHP?

Just curious and would like more insite.

Thanks,
Jim

205 hp is the official rating, and thats at the crank. a lot of people have dynoed at 210-215 dead stock at the wheels on a dynojet, and around 195 on a mustang dyno. its fairly well known that the lsj is underrated, but to know how much it would need to be strapped to an engine dyno.

The Koni Challenge Grand Am Series final race is held out here every year. The first 2 years I had pit passes and would go talk to the Cobalt teams. One question I would always ask is what the real horsepower is for these cars. They all told me 236-238 bhp on an engine dyno. Yes, it's hearsay, but it's the best I think anybody can come up with right now.

205hp is what the motor pulls
195hp is what it throws down at the wheels

It only makes sense. A pair of LSJ's on the same day on the same dyno could read differently; some are on Mustangs others Dynojets, etc.
