Of course the CEL came back on. I'm starting to get really pissed. I'm dropping the car back off at the dealer's on Monday and I don't want it back until the stock intake is back on it. Pain in my ass.

You are going to get a code until you get the tune to adjust for the extra air being sucked in. The problem with that is unless you can find someone with credits that will hook you up, the tune could be kind of expensive just for an intake.

Nah, they didn't charge me because under law the dealership HAS to get the car to pass inspection. I was driving to my cousins' house an hour ago and the light shut off. An hour later on the way home it came back on. I'm going to shoot someone.

Between all the intakes I've tested 3"-2.75" (in size) they all sounded pretty close. Some were just deeper sounding than the others. Don't go buy another intake just for sound. They all produce about the same gains as well.
Put your money else where man!

Just called and left a message explaining the situation. VatoZone just gave me P1071 code just as I figured. Do you know if the guys over at SMG do tuning? My dealer is going to pop on a stock intake next week but I'd like to keep the Injen intake if these guys can tune the car to get rid of the CEL.

Dropped off my SS/SC to get the entire stock intake piping and box put back on. I'm thinking about just keeping this car stock. I'm used to working on my '91 Eclipse GST. These new cars are just a PITA to work on, haha. I'm thinking about just putting in a drop-in K&N cone air filter and calling it a day performance wise. This won't throw a CEL will it?

You will be fine.
If you are going to buy a K&N for the stock airbox make sure to get the K&N E-0777.
It's a direct replacement filter designed for the stock airbox.

Sorry to bother you guys, but I just read like 15 pages of this thread and have another (stupid) question. If I use the K&N drop-in cone filter, so I have to hack up the intake box like I've seen all over this thread? Is there any way I could just disassemble the box itself and stick the cone filter right onto the tubing?
Also, should I disconnect the battery when installing the new filter?
