Stage 2 custom tune question

I've done some searching, but haven't found anyone asking a similar question. I'm assuming, therefore, that this is a stupid question, but here goes... I would like to get the GM stage 2 upgrade, but since it recommends the use of 93 octane, which is widely not available in most places, I was wondering if it would be worthwhile to get a custom tune to run the upgrade on 91 octane. Would this make the gains pointless?

You will be fine. The canned tune is very safe anyways. I would go with ZZP's stage 2 IMO.

Thank you all so far for your help. I've been doing some more reading and it seems to me that essentially what a tune would do to make 91 octane safe is adjust timing to reduce compression (and therefore power), which would make a smaller pulley and other stage 2 gadgetry pointless. It almost seems like tuning for what I have currently would give me more power for my money. Thoughts?

reducing timing dosent reduce compression compression is mechanicaly fixed thru comp height of the pistons and combustion chamber size your car will run just fine on 91 and a gm stg2 kit next time post tuning questions in the tuning section
