stock iat 2

I have a stock cobalt ss/sc. I just got a aeroforce gauge and i've been looking at iat2. I didn't really notice how much the car heat soaks till now. Is there a way to keep it cool while idling? I'm going auto xing soon, but the car will idle for a few minutes before the run. i was thinking maybe some ice on top of the supercharger? has anyone tried to take out the driver side head light to see if that helps get cooler air to the engine?

on a separate note, I was researching iat2s and didn't come up with a answer. Last ngiht I was coming home from work, it was about 65 degress out. I did a 30 second wot run. at the end of it, my iat2 hit 170. Is that something I should worry about? Is it directly related to the tempm of the air coming in cause i wasn't looking at the iat1.

way to get some logs man, this proves that even stock our iat's are crazy high. This is why I did cooling mods first before adding a pulley. And I still haven't added a pulley!

I know after 5 dyno pulls, with a Cobra HE, my IAT2 was around 160*F. We let it cool for 15 minutes with a fan placed directly on top of the SC and picked up 10HP. I now have an AIS meth kit on my desk waiting for it to stop raining here.

yeah, it scares me, but I don't know what is to high why it comes to iat2s. I never looked at them before till I got the gauge and I like to drag race and auto x.

170 is waaay too high for running a stock pulley. im on a 3" pulley with no cooling mods and dont see those kind of numbers. at worst im at 150s and thats with ambient temps of mid 80s.
check to see if your heat exchanger pump is working.

Agreed 170 is really really high for not having a much smaller pulley. i'm running a 2.9" and i still haven't seen numbers that high. Check that pump man.

that was one time. Normally it has been sitting 30-40 degrees over what ever the temp is out side. It fluctates(sp) while I drive and idle. If the pump was out, wouldn't it just heat soak and never go back down? I think after getting home driving 5 more miles it was sitting around 130(just cruising not in boost).

130 at cruising? unless its about 100 degrees outside (ambient temp), something is wrong. stock pullied cobalts do not run that hot.

Stock with stage 2 my iat2 was roughly 20 degrees above my iat1. Currently, with the mods I have, if I keep my methanol OFF and start my car, and go cruise at 60mph my iat2s will be about 14degrees above my iat1. This is with weather being roughly 80degrees outside.

I don't have hptuners yet but I was thinking about taking some "notes" and seeing what my iat1 is, iat2s are and ambient temp is while cruising and after a few pulls, and how long it takes to cool off, with and without meth. I generally don't use meth, because I am not 100% sure its running correctly yet.

Edit: I laughed a little bit when I first started my car my iat2 was colder then my iat1 it made me chuckle. My iat2 stayed about 5 degrees higher then my iat1 for about 10 mins. Once I hit boost though and stopped babying it, it raised and had a difficult time lowering. I like to keep my cruising iat2s under 20degrees different then my iat1.
