tjolley, thanks for correcting me on the red rtv on my thread, I have since used GM AC Delco RTV on it and its a much tighter feel on the crank, meaning the red Permatex made the crank too loose. Saved me from not having enough clamping force on the crank. Thanks agian man, and you too mrb or GDS or whatever you are calling yourself these days LOL, jk..

if your having problems on copper core your problem lies with the gap or elsewhere

I dont have black stuff, my GM RTV is gray, on the back it doesnt have any direction. I had the dealer print me out a few pages of the GMSM and it just states to torque them to 15 ft lbs and 70 degrees, done. No other steps mentioned.

thanks.

I will put the engine in when we get a good weather spell, its shelling ice here in Arkansas. The freezing rain is like falling blades of ice... You get the idea, the weather sucks. But the engine pic you saw was without some of the accessories and the timing needs done. Its just too cold in my garage at the moment. Just doing it in phases since its not my daily driver at the moment.

nice, thats the dream. I am keeping my setup nice but manageable. I am in the military and it costs me thousands to move my stuff every time I permanent change of station. When I retire/get settled and build my dream home in about 6 years I am setting up a 30x40 building, insulated 300 amp service etc etc. I own 7 acres in Texas that I am paying off before I move back there and build. Someday for me. Very nice setup btw.
