Thank you, thank you :p

Awesome Trevor, I would cap it at that. It's not worth the added stress beyond that point for 2-4ft lbs

I'm going to 275's next. I have 245 re050's on now and they don't hold 2nd at all. If they're really hot and drop pressure they still move me fwd lol but they're not happy about it.

^^^ you guys are crazy. It doesnt matter how big a tire you put on it, for the space you have, you will always be tire limited and you will always need to use your right foot wisely.
its an FWD car.
also if you overgear the car with large diameter tires you will go backwards, especially on the drag strip.

I agree that it's a losing battle and that foot control is required, but maybe with the right tires you can just lose a little less

JP have you looked into those camber tires?

this is waaay off topic from TJ's thread but for traction, go study what that 140 mph 9 second cavvy was running at GLD last year; loook at what ZZP do; look at what ex-soccer is doing.

say after me:
keep it simple
gearing
traction
set up
driver mod

then consider that tire foot print is only one part of the equation. If the task is 1320, then gearing trumps most things, and certainly tire size will change gearing.

in terms of road racing or auto x the same things apply. Its just that tire compound and tire sidewall stiffness is totally different to the 1320 needs. None of the R compound road race tires or road race slicks are worth 2 cents on 1320. In fact i bet street tires are better than a hoosier slick ( ya I have tried that)

but in autox or road racing street tires are hopeless compared to a Hoosier A6 or R80/100 slick. Even Z2 are behind the A6 and the R80.

this is why i would love to play with a stock m62 lsj with a 4.45 trans. with a 23" tire you've got ~4.84 gear. full bolt ons that thing would be deadly
