Tensioner pulley...

Guy's I feel sorta stupid asking this but how exactly do you work the tensioner pulley? I can't seem to figure this out. I didn't even worry about it when i was taking the supercharger off but now im staring at a motor and can't figure out which bolt i need to pull down on...Can you give me a picture of the exact bolt you use.

Black notch on top of the bracket use a breaker bar to pry down or a 15mm fits on.

Well i've been doing that with a breaker bar and it looks like it's taking up slack in the belt. Do i keep the belt on the tension pulley or do i stick it on the supercharger then pull the pulley down and put the belt around it?

Get the belt in the proper position and have it sitting by the snout. Apply pressure to the bracket to compress the tensioner and slide the belt over the pulley (blower)

i've worked on this thing for over an hour and still no success. Is there a possibility that the pulley isn't adjusted properly?

yeah, that's the tensioner.... if your using the stock s/c pulley, it's just going to be a struggle to slip the belt over it. You gotta compress the hell outta the tensioner. Using the biggest prybar you can fit in that small of a space is going to be your best mode of attack.

what i do is i take a 14mm wrench and hammer it on to the notch behind the pulley. that way you just turn it to the back and it will push the tensioner down

Install a tight fitting 15 mm open end wrench (1) to the drive belt tensioner lug on the rear of the tensioner. Very slowly push down and towards the back of the vehicle in order to slowly compress the drive belt tensioner.

anyone know where I can buy the tensioner? auto part stores don't have it and the dealers wants about 225 for it.

Check Crate Engine Depot or Rock Auto, hell even Amazon.

That wrench trick did not work for me at all. I took a piece of flat steel a few inches wide and rested it on that square block on the top of the tensioner. Next I used that bracket used for pulling the engine as a pry point to push down on the flat steel I had resting on the tensioner. My engine is mounted in a sand rail and I don't know what the car allows but it went very well the way I did it.

I had to stand on mine while pushing up on the rafters in my garage. wrench would just slip off before it even budged. ZZP makes a better tensioner I plan on getting eventually.
