It is possible to duplicate the CNC GMR exhaust profile by hand, and duplicate or even marginally improve the exhaust port flow #'s . It is hard to be as consistent as a CNC profile working by hand, and takes more time and therefore potentially more expensive. Forced induction motors need a balance intake to exhaust in flow, so just working the exhaust ports is all you need.

Torque maximum (lbs-ft / Nm) 270 lb-ft

i've seen this 1000 of times i need more in depth info. Why would the build book know what product GM/Powell used

The actual Time Attack car made well over that off nitrous.
John quoted me almost 400whp on nitrous & 80 or so whp less off.
Like others have mentioned, some of the Time Attack engine mods can be found in the LSJ build book. It ran a GMR head, stock cams w/ adjustable cam gears, upgraded valve springs, pistons, 4-1 shorty header, full 3" exhaust, GMR S3 PCM, 76mm pulley, and of course the hi helix blower.

I will paintently wait for the day another one goes up for sale. It will help complete my GMR setup.

I was going to buy that one, but it went for sale shortly after I purchased my H62 blower. I didn't have the extra funds for it, but I'am kicking myself for not buying it. It was brand new with the complete valvetrain installed.

I don't have much left to do to my balt within the budget and horsepower goals I had established. Most everything is complete. I'm interested in lightening the weight and stiffening a few things on the chassis. Other than that I'm just going to be a 300 whp cobalt. No more.

I had cash in hand but did not see the thread until it was too late. I see that there is a company that will CNC port so that may be the route I take when I'm ready to build a head.

If a GMR head comes around, I will most likely pick it up, and finish messin with the Cobalt.

the build book was done partially off our work. Some of the pictures were taken at our shop.
The time attack motor had a gmr exhaust ported head. That cnc profile is used to this day, when a run of heads is needed, most recently two years ago, and these last ones sold to me or to CED
Diamond pistons
stock rods
ferrera valve springs
Nitrous system was done by Harold Martins shop, and a guy worked there at the time, he did an awesome job.
Stage 3 ecu and pulley.
ARE dry sump another masterpiece.
The motors themselves were built under the watchful eye and guidance of Bill Duncan who attends CED meets and is very switched on to this car.
The time attack winning run, the car saw about 400 hp on a 50 shot. The quoted time attack figures were for the general public and to keep Grand Am off our backs (not that it worked) Grand Am penalized the Cobalt every time it won. The LNF version ran less horsepower than stock the year after it won the Grand Am championship, my tvs redline was qwiker up the straight at Mosport than the LNF Race cars.

the tv show the stock car ran 211 whp on the dyno. The time attack car ran 265 whp (of course) The GM guy was happy but immediately sad as we were racing in Grand Am and they watch Speed TV as well.

Can you or anyone else remember what the show(s) was called?

I think it's avBulletin thing... but yeah, you're better off doing an advanced google search within this domain.
wow! ~ thanks for posting that!
I remember watching bits of that show ~ at the time I liked to Cobalt but wasn't really into them becasue I knew I couldn't afford one.
