Tranny help

I have a 2006 Cobalt SS w/o the LSD. I know that people go out and buy the G85 tranny b/c it has the LSD in it. What are the difference between my tranny and the G85. Because if it is just the LSD I can go out and buy LSD for my tranny. If anyone can give me the differences on both tranny that would help me out a lot.

from what i know is that the cost of buying the LSD plus the labor of putting it in would cost more than just buying the G85 trans.

i was looking into the same thing. i talked to my mechanic and he said it would be more reliable to just get the G85 tranny and install it then try to pull everything out of your tranny to put LSD in it then put it back together.

hmm. i disagree if someone qualified does it then imo it would be better then finding a g35 from a junk yard or whoever. reason being if you buy off another person you dont know what kind of abuse its been through. if you swap out a new quaife you know you have a diff w 0 abuse also bearings are fresh and seals aswell.

True. if they know what they r doing but how much will u spend in labor cost getting this done VS looking into a New or Used G85. It all comes down to what you want to do. ether way it is not cheap. unless u know how to do it yourself

for the actual amount, even with the cheap OBX LSD, that's $400, then you're looking at iirc someone said about $600 for the install IF and a big IF you can find a shop to install it.

I only paid $690 something shipped for a G85 trans, so why bother with installing one?

Where did you find a G85 Trans for less than $700?
