Arrow Troubles !!!!!

I know its hard to fix a problem with out being in the car but just hear me out....

So the weather is starting to get nice so i decided to go have a little fun with the cobalt. So hammering around as the car came up in the rpms at about 6500 it cut out on me. so i let off and when i tried to drive away normally it would skip then drive smoothly except way under power as if it was cutting fuel or something. It would skip or act up every time id let off on the gas at hit it again. so i shut to car off for a second and restarted it and it was fine.

Didn't think much of it because it went away but sure enough it did it again to me the other day. So i decided to see if i could get the car to do it everytime. sure enough i tried it again and if you run the car up to 6000 or a little higher it cuts out and will start the whole skipping problem. I took the car to the dealer they told me i shouldn't rev the car to 6000. But they couldn't tell me what it was. I told them it was complete bullshit that car should go to 6000 no problem.

Anyone have any thoughts or ideas. I like the car but if i can't figure out the problem its making want to sell this bitch even more.

I see that you don't have many mods over stage 2, besides the stage 3 pulley so you should be running a-ok, that does seem quite odd. I'd say check the spark plug gap cause thats one of the things you've modified on the car, maybe you're having spark blowout at the high rpms. Otherwise good luck, i haven't had that problem before.

Mine has made a pop before at 6500 , but then it continued to 7k without any power loss . It was kinda like a hic-up rather than a pop . How long has the car sat without driving it ? Might want to pull the plugs and see what they look like . How many miles are on her ? Might be a good idea to throw a new fuel filter on . Looks like were running the same setup , i went back to the stock plugs for the cold weather. Mine is stored for the winter , but when the roads look good i go for a drive every now and then .

you have to love dealerships..."you shouldn't rev it to 6,000". then why does the stage 2 tune raise the rev limit to 7,000? anyway, like everyone else has already said...i would check the plugs

Could be a crappy batch of gas. Right octane rating I'm guessing?

How much boost do you see? If it's higher than normal it would be a clogged cat.

Installed the ngk bkr7e's def alot smoother running but still acts up. Zex plugs def not worth a damn.

I think you're injectors are maxxed out after 6000. Not enough fuel.

hmm, might be a throttle body or MAF problem? If i hit the rev limiter with my ebay intake i'd throw a MAF lean code and it would make my car studder when engaging the throttle afterwards and i'd have to reset it and turn my car off and on. Still dunno what exactly would make it cut out like that though. Changing back to the stock intake and seeing if that fixes anything might be a possible route, but an annoyingly long route sometimes (i hate our intake setup).

And as ^^TOG posted whats your boost that you're seeing? because if you melted your cat then it could be f***ing things up when you get to high flow rpms and your car may start to pull timing and what not.

Another suggestion is to check if your aftercooler pump is working, if its not, then temps could be rising and at high rpm and the car may start to pull timing and boost due to excessive heat and may stay that way for a while due to heat soak.

Just some suggestions, hope they help, it sucks to get raped by dealers. i'm glad the NGK bkr7e's helped when idling at least, i believe those are the exact ones i'm running.

My 07 ss/sc did somthing kinda that same in low rpms the car would run great but as soon as i would hit full boost and aroun 5000 rpms the car would almost shut down and lose all power but still have boost what was happening is the fuel pump was going bad and at higher rpms it couldnt deliver the fuel needed which i thought was shitty considering the car only had 5000 miles on it and as of now im throwing a lean code and i can not get it to go away we have put a new maf on it and i have a stock intake on order because i was a ******* and threw mine away when i put it on

but put your car on a lift and run it till it fails and see what your fuel pressure is and try that
hope that helps

sounds like a clogged cat, mine did that with only 22,000 on it, i would rev it up to about 5500 and it would cut out and boost would go through the roof, took it to gm and the cat was clogged, get it checked quick
