trunk lid

can a stock trunk lid be bought for an ss with no holes for the wing already in it? was thinking of doing wing delete. How much weight does that save and how much would I save going with a cf trunk lid? any input would be helpful. thanks

The lid with the wings have no holes for the wing to mount to. When i got into my rearend accident, it broke my wing off and i realized (at least my wing) wasnt actually bolted to the trunk lid, but mounted with that super sticky crap they use for decals.

i do not think that theres a place you can buy new trunk lids but alot of ppl on here trade their trunks with wings for wingless trunks that are the same color. or you could just look around junk yards to find a trunk that matches your color. my color is arrival blue and i havent been able to find a wingless trunk anywhere in my color. currently my balt is at a body shop and im getting the holes from my wing filled as well as the trunk key hole shaved. it costs a little more money to go to a body shop but i really wanted my wing off.

heres a trunk trading thread.

or you can buy a carbon fiber trunk from here.

If your trunk had a wing but no holes then someone messed with after the car was built at the factory. I've swapped wings before and can assure you that both trunks , 1 with a low pro, mine with the high , had mounting holes in them . All factory cobalt wings have studs sticking down from the base.

+1 they do have holes in trunk from factory if you got a spoiler. Yours sounds like it was aftermarket addon from someone that didnt do it right.

You wont save much with just wingless, whats a wing like 5lbs? the CF trunk is almost half the weight of a oem trunk though right? Forgot the weight differences.

That's why I threw in the (at least mine) clause, cause I bought mine used.
