alot of us consider using our cars as track cars so the better with less weight the less resistance we have....simple math really power/weight ratio would be so greatter then what it is. u probly think were dumb and all and yeah we spent the money on the car to go and rip it apart but hey we do that cuz well to each his own lol

Damn so aiming for 2500 would not be that hard at all. I was thinking carbon hood and trunk remove rear seats and passenger seat. Get a racing seat. Light weight weight tires and bolts for the tires. ac delete. Spare tire delete. Lose 30 pounds my self lol! But I have to keep the radio.

how about instead of investing thousands into making ur car lighter and completly ruin the appearnace and comfort..u keep all of that and invest into performance mods to make up for the weight. i mean i paid alot of money for my car and i just dont see why i would wanna spend more money to get rid of the damn things i paid so much for.
throw that money at a platform worth modding, LS1 vette or something
also, I've seen a no sunroof SS/SC with a dome light
weird
Im tryn fiberglass doors an pulled most of the interior, cuttin some of the trunk floor out an molding fiberglass to fit flat an lighter wheels an just alot of time but simple things to try an get it as lightweight as i can. parts should be on by july. I can only go as fast as i get money to buy the stuff to mold the parts

huckernage brought his car down to like 2400 lbs by taking out back seat trunk carpet, spare, parts of the doors and cutting misc parts out. and his car I drove with him on the highway, also new full exhaust and lightweight pullies will help
also those doors don't come with windows however it looks like you could somehow put them in .. there was an opening.. you could use some sheet metal and make a bracket for the window motor and cut a slot for the actual window with a dremel
it wouldn't be easy but it's all do-able

there's plenty of non-sunroof ss's out there.
I wouldn't use these doors on a street car unless you reinforce them, which would kind of defeat the point.
They are made with rivet joints for a lexan window. I'm picking some up for track use only. I think I might try to use net for the windows if the track will let me.

tracks really don't like open air setups.
edit. you'll also need a new harness system. which drag racing harnesses..yes, actual ones none of that show harness **** hahah, need to be sent off to the manufacturer every couple of years to make sure its still safe.
i would say just spend the money on lexan. a little thought on the install and you can have it sealed water tight. but also removeable.

Just found a how-to
Carbon Fiber sunroof weight loss plan -- for less than $350
Its not a Cobalt but pretty much should work out just the same!
