Well, I finally blew up... Need advice

I pretty much just got back from having my car towed to my buddies house. did a 3rd gear pull because i wanted to show him the difference my ported head gave me and boost spiked to 25.6 psi and that was it. car shut off, and the low coolant light came on. all the coolant went through the exhaust and thats that.. as far as AFR goes, i wasnt looking. yeah im an idiot but it is what it is. if i had to guess, i was making 380+ to the wheels. we arent tearing apart the car until later this week but does anyone have any advice on what i could possibly need to buy or anything.. im going to do forged pistons and sleeve it but i dont know anything else. thanks for any input and this blows : (

They are already forged, dont think you should need new rods unless there is something wrong with them.

He HAS to sleeve it, or buy a new block, and that would just be stupid. Sounds like hes on a bit of a budget.

rod bearings/main bearings ..... since your gonna be in there, i mean how often do you tear the motor apart. lol thats all im saying, but Good luck with the rebuild, if your doing it yourself just dont slap the pistons in there, check clearance's etc, dont want piston slap

thanks glen.. yeah i think the bearings are a must. but if the stock rods can handle the power, im going to keep them. i think now im just going to go for 450whp. when ya blow it up you gotta build it better haha..

i had a lift so it was a tad different, ive done a number of pulls/clutchs with fred

we always drop the subframe, then drop the motor and trans (on jackstands), then separate the trans, then tear down the motor on an engine stand, its just easier that way

i know we've had our difference's but im always up to help another member, im not as much of a jackass as some of my post's come across

expect 3500 dollars minimum in parts.

Sleeves are a must as you know. I would recommend cryo'ing the rods also. Obviously get the crank knife edged, micropolished, or butchered. Other then that it's pretty basic man. Get your head gasket, i vote cometic since both surfaces will be machined, arp head studs, stock main studs, and you are set.

I know this is a "budget" build, but if you don't go with the above mentioned parts you will be royally screwed. If you didn't have arp head studs before that was potentially what caused all of this to start with, that or the sleeve gave out because of detonation and or to much boost.
