Well, I finally blew up... Need advice

update: my car is done! but now im getting a cel thats causing me to run in limp mode.. code is P2122 Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 1 Circuit Low Voltage -PCM
does anyone know whatcsensor 1 is? because there are two sensors.. i would think its the throttle body and the sensor in the gas pedal..

Glad to hear you have her running Chris!!
As far as the code, from what I've gathered there should be two sensors in the accelerator petal assembly, they read voltage opposite eachother when the pedal is pushed down. One reads from high to low (sensor 2) and the other reads from low to high (sensor 1). It would appear that in your case sensor 1 dropped below the 'acceptable' voltage level, thus throwing the DTC.
Here are the codes avaliable for that system:
P2120 Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 1 Circuit -PCM
P2122 Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 1 Circuit Low Voltage -PCM
P2123 Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 1 Circuit High Voltage -PCM
P2125 Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 2 Circuit -PCM
P2127 Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 2 Circuit Low Voltage -PCM
P2128 Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) Sensor 2 Circuit High Voltage -PCM
Could you have interfered with those sensors at all? I would assume there would have to be a break in the circuit or the sensor is just bad. Unless they became disconnected at some point and weren't plugged back or or not plugged back in the correct spot.
Im not to familiar with anything further though.
Disclaimer, I learned this in a TB discussion but Cobalts were included in the list, I would assume the same accelerator pedal assembly was used between the different GM & Chevy models of the same year range). Hope the info helps.

sounds like you just need to get it out of limp mode now.
usually its p0068. set that to enable at 8000 rpm (disabled). It's on the main eng diagnostic page. That is your map/maf/throttle position correlation code.

And to think all i heard were good things from Bates it would pay to ship your car to ZZP and have them do all the work. Next build my car is going to OTTP and i'm sleeping on the couch lol atleast JBP wouldn't mess up that badd

certain pcms have a bulletin on them for throwing a 2138 code i believe. you have to replaced the pcm.
i kept throwing a 2138 code, along with 2122 and 2135i had to replace the pcm. while changing the pcm i saw that a wire going into the harness was just slightly pulled away from the inside of the connecter. so im not sure which one accually fixed it, but it got fixed. just pulled the lock out of the connecter and pushd the wire in until it clicked and locked it.
before this all happened. i did my intake. so is possible that the wire could of came out while i was unpluging the connector.
just something to look for. it was a pain in the ass for me, for the longest time. limp mode suckksss

well, im not going to blame ray YET... ill be tearing down the motor AGAIN this weekend.. but unless my rich tune destroyed the rings causing ridiculous blowby, i will be calling him because if its not the rings, its the block. if its somehow the pistons, ott will be getting a call lol.. everything exhaust wise has to come out of the car because everything is COVERED in oil so everything needs to be degreased/cleaned.. i hope to god this is the last time im going to be tearing this down.

well the block is at O & L machine right now by my house... apparently ray bates fucked up.. gapped the rings wayyy too tight. but thats what the machinist said.. im getting the rings changed out, rehone and replacing the rod bearings.. but if this fixes it i know ray messed up. too bad he wont accept responsibility. i just hope this fixes the problem and ill be happy. ill take some pics of the rings when i get the block back
