What are Safe IAT2's?

Looking at my mods, should I be running these IAT2s? What are safe numbers, and what could be causing mine to be so high?
IAT 75 IAT2 120 Normal Driving
IAT 75 IAT2 175 WOT Top of 3rd and 4th

Sometimes I even get right into the low 180s (@ WOT) and this is very mild temps for Louisiana.
I will be seeing 95+ temps this summer. What do I do to get this temps lower? Thanks guys.

Ok do this, go outside crank your car up. Take the cap off of the filler neck in front of the SC. Pinch the hose to the right. If the fluid doesnt rise and bubble then your IC pump is messed up.

Ok well I'll have to do this tomorrow in the light. I have noticed that over the last few days that filler neck as been running empty and I'd have to top it off. Wouldn't take much, I just wouldn't be able to see any coolant down in it.

hmm make sure you dont have a leak anywhere if you have to keep refilling it like that. Did you add a new HE or dual-pass lately?

No I didn't add anything lately. The motor was just put in about a month ago by a GM master tech. I told him about the cobra h/e and he said he could rehook everthing think correctly. I park on concrete at work tomorrow, I'll check for a leak when I leave.

Yea dude your IAT's are way too high, make sure that pump is working and that everything underneath is hooked up correct.

I just went through this. My IC pump was hooped. I was seeing IAT2's around 120* during the winter and it would not move from there. The filler neck was always going empty but there was no leak. What is happening is your pump is no longer working and the fluid is heating up and evaporating. With the new pump and the cobra H/E I installed. At this time of year I do not see AIT2 temps. over 90*. Yor AIT2 temps should be only around 40 * over AIT1 temps. You will need to get a new pump.

cheers

You have Meth and a cobra H/E and you're still getting 170 IAT2's? Something is severly wrong there. You are running a 2.7" which will move quite a bit of heat, but Meth should be making a dramatic difference. I'm on a 2.9" pulley and quickly checking temps with some hard pulls, i'm seeing no where above 120 IAT2's during this brisk 30-40 degree weather and 40-45 degree IAT1 (no meth whatsoever).

I think TOG might be right with the intercooler pump or maybe Meth pump. I can see those temps happening on a 2.7" without meth possibly. Also, with an open catless exhaust you should see a bit lower boost and subsequently lower IAT2 temps. Try putting some voltage through the pumps, or checking connections with a voltmeter, hopefully its something simple.

I don't see above 140 when WOT and thats here in Flordia.
And I have no cooling mods thou Meth is being put on this weekend.
Get that IC pump checked out it your risking blowing your engine at those temps.
Meth is probably the only thing saving you right now.

Ok I did this test and I got nothing. No rise or bubling. The hoses have no pressure to them. So I jacked up the car and started it, got underneath and felt and listened for the pump and nothing just the vibration of the enigne. While it's running the hoses have no pressure to them. I alos found a kink coming out of my cobra he, but I think it's only kinked because of the lack of pressure from the pump. How can I hot wire the pump just to see if it will kick on. I even tried the relay jump on the fuse block that some people use at the track and it didn't kick on. Any other suggestions or should I try to find a pump? Is there any aftermarket ones that will work better or longer? Can I use a cobra or lightning one, they seem more readily available? On the interstate, I'm seeing around 120 crusing and 170 ish WOT today. At a redlight idling I seen 90degrees but after I took off back to 120. But it seems if the pump was out my car wouldn't cool down soo fast. I can WOT and jump to 170 and be back at 130-140 in 15-20 secs. Thanks guys.

Thats do to the meth that you cool down so quick If you still have warranty take it to a dealer and pray they don't void said warranty or if you don't ask them to see if the pump is broken and get an estimate from them to fix it. That way a Gm tech can verify its the pump that needs fixing and you get your car checked for free s they're looking to give you "estimates to fix it" and then go find the pump cheaper on ebay or what not. As for a cobra pump of other brand not a clue hope someone else can help you there.

If you look at the neck on the H/E tank... the fill line is only 1/4" above the bottom! And after 160* IAT2s... your car will start pulling timing making it go from faster to hit a wall slow!

Get methanol and a front mount H/E I just did one this weekend and your intake manifold will thank you!

Definately don't have warranty. I'm going to start looking for a new pump on ebay or on here if anyone is selling one. This sucks, what would cause it to go out?

They only have cobra and lightning pumps on ebay. Will these work for my car? Are they a direct replacement? Thanks
P.S. I did find one kink, but I believe it's only there due to lack of pressure from the pump.

Here is what you are looking for. This will fit and work identically to the stock coby pump.

Any way to make sure you have power going to your original pump first ? Is there a fuse or plug you could check?

There is a relay on the fuse block and I jumped it and it still didn't work. I'm going to use a light tester at the pump before I order the new one just to make sure I'm getting power to it.
