Who would win? Cobalt SS/SC or 1.8T Golf GTi
I have a friend who has a Golf GTi with some performance chip....I forgot from who.
About 200whp.
I'm stock accept for the K&N drop in.
So who would win?
Just for fun:
Also, I have a friend who has an RSX Type S with a K24 motor and a K20 head. w/ a Greddy turbo in it about 300hp. Who would win....probably not me huh LOL.

It'll be a close race, my bro has one with a giac chip, and it rips.....supposely chipped they run consistant mid 14's. So its a definately a drivers race. I know that giac and apr make the best chips for them...very aggressive....plus u forgot to mention torque....those cars chipped will make 290+ at the crank. Best of luck and tell us your out come

i would say you could take him.... but that is entirely a driver race imo. if he wins, just get some cheap mods and let him know what's up :p. i mean hell, your car is basically stock.

being a VW guy myself and still being involved in the VW club here in NC i've had plenty of opprotunity to test my cobalt against GTI's R32s and everything. all my races and reference times are on a 1/4mile track.
the stock gti would lose everytime.
I know a GTI with programming (APR), exhaust, forge diverter valve, intake and coilovers will run a 14.1 prior to getting a fmic. that's with a crapy clutch and in pretty cool weather.
if all he has is chip and intake it will be a pure drivers race. but if he beats you race him again and his heat soak will slow him down quite a bit.
as in for the long run you'll run him down. anything past third gear is yours.

My brother has a GLI with a stage 2 kit from APR with the upgraded turbo and i just slightly pulled on him even on the highway at 90mph, that thing has some *****, and that was when i had everything on mine. With just a chip on a GTI it would be close.

My friend has a 2004 Jetta 1.8T 5 spd. Chip (225hp they say) intake, down pipe, lowered on good quality coil overs...he ran 14.3@97mph.
I am stock except for a K&N Filter. I ran 14.5@99mph.
He has the faster time but lower mph. So it would be a drivers race. Sooo close.
