i am currently running ottp stage 2 and will be purchasing header dp and cai, just wondering if having the wideband gauge is a necessity or if i will be okay without it.

get it. their canned tune should only be used to get you up and running. Having that wideband will allow you to see your afr's so that you can dial in your tune.

sounds good. how would i go about "dialing in my tune"? would i need to have someone retune it or is this something i can do on my own?

I would recommend a wideband to everyone with a modded car. And for a tune if you know what your doing in HPtuners you can do it yourself, if not then have someone do it for you.

get a REPUTABLE tuner to dial in your tune. If no one local to you stands out, I'd recommend BYT. He's a well known tuner and vendor on these forums.

Honestly once you've had a tuner dial you in with their wideband, if you at minimum have say an Interceptor or something that'll keep a constant eye on knock for you at all times then I say you're covered.

But there's nothing wrong with more instrumentation, but if you have something watching your knock sensor for you then a wideband is just an extra toy.

I wouldn't say it's an extra toy even with an interceptor. it's still a great way to help diagnose driability problems that aren't that obvious to solve.

It is, if you're a tuner... But since the OP doesn't appear to be, it wouldn't really be of benefit to him since the tuner is going to want to reproduce it and see it with his own eyes anyway. With a knock sensor, atleast you know there's a problem and you can tell your tuner when it happened and then he can go hunt for it and figure out why, which is what he would do if he was worth his salt and do anyway with or without your wideband to aid him.

I guess it would make it easier for tuning since the wideband is already in, but meh.

I agree that having an actual afr display for the driver is completely unnecessary. I hardly ever look at it unless; A something is not right, or B, I'm using it as a gas mileage gage (in concert with the boost gauge). By using it as a gas mileage gage I mean staying out of boost and staying at 14.7:1.

Its required for tuning, however.
