ZZP all out m62 build What do you think it is capable of?

Well, just got my Saturn up and running, its been a project, ex flood car. This car was built to stay a single power adder, stock m62 blower build. Ryan’s car was built to be twincharged, but this car is intended to stay all blower, and NO TVS or Meth for this car either.

Big thanks to Zoom for the sponsor help of course , "Matt M" for the help wrenching, and "Ryan@zzp" for the AC delete and water pump pieces.

Here is a quick video Matt made for me

Here is the mod list:
ZZP spec shortblock
ZZP CAI
ZZP LS4 throttle body
Stock m62 supercharger with 2.9 pulley (to start with)
ZZP single pass intercooler
ZZP Stage 3 heat exchanger
ZZP stage 1 ported head with 78 lb valve springs
Comp cams custom ZZP camshafts
ZZP electric water pump kit
ZZP AC delete
79 lb injectors
ZZP stainless midlength 1 ¾” header
ZZP shorty exhaust with Whisper resonator
ZZP Stage 4 clutch
Running on 93 octane

!!!UPDATE!!!

Well, we are still having some minor issues, but we were eager to get some dyno numbers. So for the first pull, I put on a 2.9” pulley, (I wanted to be safe) shutting down at 6000 rpm it made 266whp. Matt and I were pretty happy, a few pulls later it ended up making nearly 320 whp SAE with the same pulley!
I decided to try a smaller pulley still running standard 93 octane and a few pulls in and we squeezed another 5ish whp out of it. Well since the ZZP 2.3L stroker engine has 11:1 compression I didn’t want to push it any further with the 93 octane, ZZP isn’t going to give me another engine. So I put in some 110 octane and dropped another pulley size and made over 350whp STD(338whp SAE). We are amazed at this combo, it has the same bolt ons that Ryan’s car has but it has the ZZP stroker short block, ZZP s1 ported head, and the custom Comp Cams. The car pulls well past 8000 rpm. I need to address some of the original issues still like alignment (the tires squeal on the dyno), some basic electric issues, and I will continue the engines proper break in. We still want to try e85 and see what happens!
I will post a dyno video later.

I'm more concerned with the camshafts. They would be something worth bringing to the masses here. I, for one would be very interested.

Anything on this car will be available for sale at some point. We just have a lot of products that arent ready for production yet.

specs on the cams would be nice when developed, and good luck with the build. You guys have achieved some milestones, we'll see you far you can push things.

Tim brings up a good point, we did over 300WHP with ease on Ryan's car and it wasn't even meant to be an M62 build. I guess the faith in what ZZP can achieve isn't solidified yet on the forum.

Lord knows we've had the haters and I will admit, Tim got everything we currently have for this build. It's sink or swim. I hope to shut a lot of people up with Tim's numbers. then again if it doesn't pan out, the haters will finally have something to be right about
I'm a little nervous simply from the number of new parts we're using on the build but Ryan proved the electric water pump and single pass. Hopefully Tim's car can prove once and for all why it pays to team up with ZZP on builds. I've seen a lot of bottom ends get done, a lot of failures and a lot of dyno's I wouldn't be proud of for the money spent.

There hasnt been great success with cams in these cars yet so its hard to up the hp because of the zzp cams untill its proven. Ported head free's things up 2.9 is really conservative and running on 93 instead of E85. SO I think that for the most part peoples guesses are fairly accurate my 296 is hoping the cams up the numbers

Specs on the Cams. If they are not regrinds and will make power to 8K with the stock blower, I would be quite interested in them.

Interested to see where this build goes as well.

I'd say judging by Ryan's car this will do 330whp with ease.

Keep up the good work. Good to see you guy's continually pushing more power out of these cars. I'd be interested to see what kind of power you could get out of a full ZZP TVS build.

It's funny how you just keep "remembering" higher and higher numbers as we surpass them. Regardless of how much power the TA car made, it did not have the stock blower on it. We're running a standard M62.

Oh, and I forgot to add. The TA Cobalt was on nitrous.

no it was a hybrid m62. Often nicknamed the H62. More twist on the rotors making it more efficient.

What do you all think it will dyno and run with the above mod list?

Okay, couple of questions first, what exactly comes with the ZZP spec shortblock, what is the flow numbers of the ZZP head, and what are the specs on the ZZP cams.

If done correctly, you should be able to get well over 300whp/300wtq. How far depends on the flow of the head and the cams.

First I was told we couldn't tune, then it was that we wouldn't be the fastest, then that we wouldn't have the most power, told that the twin charge woudln't work, told that other companies would waste us, told that I was pushing us out of business, told I was lying about the TVS, told I was lying about water injection, told this and that and called out 100's of times. ZZP proved everyone wrong and is continuing to do so. Every debate ended up with me being right. Now all you have left is "I don't like you personally"?

If so, I'll take that. People don't buy mods because they want to jerk off the guy selling them. They buy what makes the most power for the best price reliably. ZZP continues to prove ourselves and display that the best times and highest HP numbers are just not possible without running our parts. Some people won't care and will drive around with slow cars, bragging about what they could do if they ever raced or dyno'd until we see them demod with some excuses of what's more important. Others will give us a chance to assist in building their dream car. You can choose which path you want.

In terms of this thead, I'm hoping Tim's car closes the chapter on engines, heads, tuning and performance by showing our full capabilities. It should be interesting and I thank Tim for putting in the hours to make it happen.

blah blah blah look at you, you're still an ass

why couldn't you let someone else have the designation of having the highest whp lsj? you had to call bullshit when there was no need to call bullshit, and there were even dyno sheets.

now i believe in giving credit where credit is due, and i respect the work that you guys have put into the cobalt community, don't get me wrong. you have some great parts available and have made incredible progress on the dyno and the track. but with the high-and-mighty attitude, and especially if you can't give credit where it's due, i believe i speak for a good part of the community when i say... go f*ck yourself. keep on creating that stellar image you are so good at showing. my money goes elsewhere
