ZZP Mid-length header/downpipe - nothing but problems

I think solid mounts would end this issue but I could be wrong.

I'm bring this thread back to life because the exact same thing just happened to mine today. I was driving and everything was fine, then all of a sudden it just broke off and the car was ungodly loud. I will probably just take it to the muffler shop tomorrow and have them weld it back together because I can't be without my car for the next 2 weeks while I send this back to ZZP.

I had no idea how thread this old was..

Well I'll throw in an update here also got this in June of 2008
June 2008 - Had to take it to a muffler shop to get the leaks fixed because the gaskets were not sufficient out of the box $100
July 2008 - Broken Flex pipe at the GM bash, trip home also damaged the resonator
$200 to repair the resonator and flex pipe
Sep 2008 - $150 to get the new resonator welded in after it again cracked beyond repair from continuing to hit every object on the road (stock height car mind you)
Oct 2008 $100 to get the downpipe flange gasket fixed for leaking to pass inspection
April 2009 $30 in clamps to keep the hangers from continuing to come off because the exhaust does not fit properly
Some future point in 2009 $$$$ who knows how much to get the muffler hacked off and get something else that sounds half decent put on and doesnt stick out 3 inches from the bumper and look like ****. Pending nothing else also fails. Maybe I should just get something else before I pay the cost of 2 full exhausts anyway. This product is **** and I strongly suggest everyone avoid it.

its amazing how many problems zzp seems to have. and in zoomers response with a link to a thread discussing it they blame it on more power being added to your car and thats the reason y the mid length and downpipe are breaking.... lol it mentions you need mounts. theese ppl seem to have mounts and it still seems to be breaking. food for thought.

Now I feel even better that I bailed on the ZZP group buy and went with CIA.

My guys found a flaw in the manufacturing process of the mid length downpipe that was corrected. I don't know when it was implimented but here is the situation.
http://www.zzperformance.com/miscftp/IMG_6840.jpg
We were welding the flexes to the flange and this meant that only the red portion was welded to the flange. Failures could then occur when the ring broke off of the flex. Now we weld them to pipe so that the blue and red portions get welded and then weld the pipe to the flange.
We are changing our warranty on this product to 2 years for people that already bought it, we will pay for return shipping of pipes that break and for people that had to pay shipping already, we will issue you a coupon code to our site. I apologize for the potential issue, for the people that have experienced failures and appreciate the chance to continue serving the community with improved products.

The currently ZZP mid-length combo is currently the best combo on the market when considering performance, price, material, cost, warranty and customer service. We have done extensive dyno testing and have sold over 300 sets. The fastest Cobalts will be running ZZP parts in 2009.

Bold statement Zoomer... "The fastest Cobalts will be running ZZP parts in 2009". Hmm, I disagree. The fastest Cobalts in 2009 will be running Hahn in my opinion. You can beat the living shi* out of there product and it keeps on going. Performance wise is amazing, price is fair, quality is unsurpased and customer service is beyond amazing to say the least. What more could a guys ask for?? After seeing all these problems from NUMEROUS balt owners I would worry more about your research and developement department. Even saying that your mid-length combo was corrected over a year ago and people are still having problems speaks volumes. No offence here but after seeing all the negs about ZZP I would be extremely hesitant to every make a purchase from you guys. The worst thing about being a cobalt owner w/mods is having to wait weeks for fixes and so on. I would definitely work on just building great product and take it from there.

I was in the group buy, I have the original design of the header and downpipe, and it is still going strong. I love the product, Zooomer has always given me GREAT customer service. I have nothing but good things to say about them.
I only had a Small fitment issue with their Heat Exchanger, and that was an easy fix.
Whenever I need a part ZZP is the first place I go, because they have done just about everything right in my book.

The last I had heard.. Jordan sent the Downpipe back to ZZP and they fixed it nicely and sent it back, I then bought the downpipe from him and sold it here on .net.. The thing looked VERY professional and all the welds were very nice..
They had issues with their h/dp and they acknowledged that and fixed it.. So.. -High Five-

I bought mine in the first group buy, and it's still holding up fine. I thought I was having a problem with the cat after about a year, and zoomer said to send it back and they would repair the problem no questions asked. Turned out when I got under the car the cat was NOT the problem. But the service was excellent in my opinion, and the product is still great.

Yes, which is taken completely out of context because in the same thread on the same page, I acknowledged the problem and offered a solution. This you convienently chose to ignore.
They aren't. There are people who's pieces made over 1 year ago are just now having issues which is why we extended the warranty. Even after me posting about the issue, many people are not going to remove a working part unless they have to.

dude thats not taken out of context. ITS YOUR POST. wtf is this. taken out of context. i posted the link up so everyone could read for themselves. they can form their own opinion.
as for the fact that peoples product are breaking in the first place. i will state what another already has. research and developement. do it. then products wont break in the first place. no one expects it to be perfect but there seems to be way too many of theese breaking and well its not actually just this product from you guys that breaks. seems to be alot of them.

You stated that I am blaming the problem on people's mounts which is not true. At one point I made the comment, in the same thread I recanted. All nearly a year ago. To imply that our products are defective currently and I'm sidestepping the issue by blaming it on the mounts, when you know that isn't true is dishonest. I'm not saying I'm perfect and don't expect others to be either. I do expect people not to lie about ZZP and when they do, I'll call them out.
