I believe you can change the head but don't quote me on that.

I would go with a 07 and up block (stronger). not sure on the head working on there but the block does for sure.

because of the coil backs being different i wonder if the valve covers on a 06 and 07 will interchange

I'm fairly certain 06 heads and 07 heads are not interchangeable, they added cam position sensors in 07 and did a few other things to the head. Safest beat is to keep the same model year parts together, but if you are trying to get an 06 head to fit an 07 block because of cams available for 06, the cams for 06 can be modified for 07 heads, there are a few threads about it on here, just search.

Are you planning on going turbo?

If the bottom ends built it'll take it. That's why he's asking, to see what bottom end he can start with.

yea it will take it and then some if he builds it.

If you go supercharged i dont know if you need to build the lower end as long as you shot for around the 250whp number and dont beat on it every time you drive. There are some good supercharge build details in the sticky on supercharged and turbos

Can you not find a 06 block, or you just dont want to have to deal with getting the crank cyro'd and sleeving the block?

You can just cryo your stock crank, you don't have to buy one that is already done, and if your using a stock crank from a used motor I'd check your clearances and wear before you cryo. And you'll be down there anyways replacing the rods.

I'm not sure on the 06 block what the sleeves are rated too, I know 07 will hold till upper 400s, and they aren't the same as 06, 07s got stronger sleeves.

And I don't know much about running nitrous, but I'd ask a few questions under that section, pretty sure you'll need/should get a new intake mani with that shot.

i bought the ecotec performance book from my chevy dealership they say the block and crank will handle around 400 on the 05 and 06 block but that is pushing it i would be happy to get 320 330 i planned on using the 2.4 mani with the 2.0 tb with the adapter plate and harness adapter
