1/4 Mile Times for 2.2L yet? ***EDIT*** I found some #'s!(See my last post)

the cobalt ran a 16.6 basing from what I read in the magazine. Thats with the 2.2L, assuming its 5spd, and assuming the driver is pretty much a professional driver if its to be placed in a magazine.
Now, with inexperienced dragsters, I have a feeling a STOCK cobalt 2.2L will get times like 16.9 or such from normal driver going to the track.
My 75hp '83 honda accord hatch ran 17.85@75mph, and it felt way faster than my cobalt. I dunno, I hope that if I do bring my coupe to the track, I get a better time than 16.6, cause 16.6 isnt very fast at all...

With only an AEM CAI on my ION, my best was a 16.4. I now have a lightweight crank pulley, tapered TB, short shifter, and some other small stuff, but my biggest enemy was wheel hop that day. I will soon have a torque brace installed, which will eliminate most (if not all) wheel hop. I am sure I can break 16 now once I have no wheelhop. I'll post pics when i do go to the track this spring/summer.

My stock Auto base model ran a 16.5 at 83MPH. I am sure if I had a 5 speed tranny I could shave almost a second off that time. My Alero with the Quad 4 2.4L and 5 speed manual ran 15.7 at 90MPH fully stock. A LOT depends on track conditions and driver.

the fastest I've ever seen pulled stock on a 2.2L Ion/Cobalt was about 16.3. I don't really believe that 15.6 at all, a stock Ion/Cobalt would never be able to pull that. I didn't see a time slip in that link either...

I agree, there's no way you got 15.6 stock, not even modded with the usual bolt-ons. Cobats weigh the same as IONs, and have the same engine, tranny and restrictions. How does that work out that you got a full second over another cobalt owner, and almost a second over me? I can see some environmental conditions taken into play like sea level, weight of driver, tire pressure, etc., but it won't make for a second difference, not unless the other drivers all suck compared to you (highly unlikely).

I lowered my tire pressure to 20psi, and by the time I got to the track, I was at 1/4 tank of gas. I know all about variables at the track. I did all I could to reduce my weight without taking out things from the car that I would be driving with on the road (ie spare tire, seats, carpet, etc.). I wanted true times that would reflect what I could run on the streets as well.

I ran a members 2.2L 5-speed LS at the track on saturday night. I pulled a 16.1 and that my first time ever driving the car with no weight taken out (ie spare tire jack etc) no tire pressure adjustment, and with over 3/5 a tank of gas. I also broke the plastic off the shift knob going into 3rd gear, thus messing up my shift.
A Cobalt LS can EASILY get in the 15's with an experienced driver.

Ummm, explain to me how my alero (heavier car) with a 2.2L ecotec made a 15.21 second run and would run 15.4's all day with with just a catback exhaust, CAI intake, and lowering springs? ok, it was a factory freak from the start, but...

I have a cobalt sedan with minimal mods (air intake and muffler) and a five speed and I am running consistent 15.9's at 86 mph. I do have quite a bit of wheel spin, however I also have the stock radial tires; drag radials would definately be a huge advantage.

I ran a 16.2 @ 85 with a 2.3 60' My car is an 05 Cobalt LS Coupe with a 5 speed, only mod is homemade cold air intake. I can scan a timeslip if needed, but since its a record breaking run, im not gonna bother right now.
