There is a ~100 hp difference between those because the motor is so detuned to run on the 91. The additional 15* of timing and other goodies make a huge difference. I doubt you would get anywhere near those results putting 109 and a tune in most of the cars here, but look at the Mods McFly.
Quit being a dick and start reading Glock!

LOL!
Gilbert has some pics on another thread. Pics of the car itself are not impressive, because all you can see from the outside is the heat exchanger, drag radials, brakes, and exhaust.
I'll go get some pics from our local website for you guys of the parts he posted since they are hard to see one the engine is assembled, LOL!
You guys have to be very clear that the car makes the power ONLY because of it's mods and tune.
If you were to tune your car for 109 you could probably gain 20-25hp which isn't shabby in itself.
La Bannana had to be detuned because of those SOB 10:1 pistons, so it makes crap for hp on the street (280) but when you use the proper fuel and the right tune the 430bhp really screams because of the cams, pistons (10:1), 25* of timing, and 8k rpm redline. The only thing it shares with normal SS/SC is the engine block.

Why would you go alpine? Can that turbo even support the 400+HP required for the times he posted?
I'm really skeptical, because I actually DO race a 400+hp cobalt, and can't get the 1.7 or the 12.1 that he is talking about. Then again I suck at driving, and Cobalts aren't easy to drive IMO.
FYI> it's not the car in my sig, it is "La Bannana" Gilbert's car.

For those of you The 2.2L is just as potent as the 2.0L especially if he is replacing all internals. Which he had to have done. I would also expect some good headwork. Valves, springs, the works. He could use the same cams, but that is about it. But if he did all that work, I would still expect a 2.0 60ft. For example, a SS/sc cobalt that I know of, was running 387whp, with slicks, and wasn't even close to running 1.7 60's. He was still running low 13's too. Mind you all of this is on stock internals. This is Randy's 'balt for the AZ guys. But I don't see dropping a full second with any less than 480whp in a cobalt.
In order to run 1.7 60ft, you need to change the entire geometry of the suspension, put on some front slicks that stick out like beaner wheels, skinnies on the back, and definately new axles.
OP-I would like to see the vid and a sign of the screenname too. But if you are running that damn good job!

Here is a link to "La Bannana" atleast the pics of the parts when we recieved them and some other garbage.
It's called "La Bannana" because gilbert's daughter said it looked like a bannana.

I hope he's not lying, for his sake and for the potential of Cobalts all over the world. But I also hope that Jesus gets reincarnated as a Godzilla and rampages through Washington D.C. Burning out all the corruption in our government.
Guess neither of my dreams will come true.
Yeah, we have the same type of rear axle set-up as a Coleman Travel trailer. IT's really hightech! Thank god they didn't just weld RE-bar in there.

Yeah, I mean honestly how much more would it have cost them to put in IRS. Eww I don't like that abreviation. Independent rear suspension.

That's an easy answer. Gilbert's screen name is GILBERT on here.
The car I spoke of is "La Bannana" (his SS/SC)
It has:
Ported and Machined M62 w/2.6" pulley
JBP Stage 3 Ported heads
Oversized Titanium Valves
8k rpm springs
Crane Cam
Pacesetter Header
3"DP
3"exhaust
60# injectors
3" Intake
Stage 2 axles
Nitto DR's
Drilled and slotted brakes
Snow Performance Methanol
10.1: Forged and coated Pistons
Total Seal Piston Rings
Dual Pass Intercooler
CA Heat Exchanger
And my tuning
Makes ~280hp on 91 and ~430hp on 109
And some other crap

Actually this guy kinda reminds me of the new kid who comes to the pavilians. He just bought his yellow SS/sc about two months ago, and threw in some tv's in his headrests and goes around saying he can spank a 450whp SRT4.
