I love how when someone makes a valid point, or when i made several valid points "blackedoutcoby" doesnt asnwer them, and i guess i was hating on you when i stated some simple facts which a few others with 2.2's have thus repeated, like ionninja, because there is no way in hell for one your making 180whp, nor are you going to make 200whp all motor for 1-2k in mods, please go back to bulding your 240 and all those other cars you built before you come in here and start spewing out bullshit, yes it is possible to make 200whp on a 2.2= yes, for 1-2k in mods=no.

Just trying yo help you out, not trying to be an ass either, just seems none of you like to listen to logic, including you by building your car all motor then switching over to f/i, how do you plan on doing this? what pistons will you be using? Tuning?

you know...the fastest N/A 2.2 i heard of was a guy with a cavalier running low 14's with a HUUGE list of mods...hes over on ecotecforum(s).com if you wanna check it out...but i mean, if hes runing low 14's, then hes only around 210-220...so getting to 200 will be just as expensiv for you as it was for him...

180 at the most. your 155 whp stock at best and 8+8+16+4+9 in a n engine doesnt make what it ='s i.e intake =8hp + exhaust=10 added doesnt give u 18
it just doesnt work that way.

Cavaliers are .5 seconds slower stock, so that is going to be that much less needed to get same results.
This is based from what other people have dynoed:
On the exhaust side, an all 2 1/4 exhaust with downpipe and 4-2-1 header gives 25 hp gain over stock.
That is $350 for the catback, $350 for the header, and I am not sure how much for the down pipe but it is doubtfully more than $300.
On the intake side, I hear everyone saying a CAI is about 15hp which is $250.
Also that 2.4 intake conversion is supposedly from the sight like a hair over 13hp which is $235.
If you add a bored out throttle body off of E-bay, it is about 3hp for $100.
I heard of a place in Arizona that tuned an Cobalt for $300, called Gearhead Garage in Phoenix. This is supposedly around another 20hp.
So far that is $1885 for all of the above for 78 more horses. Of which, I know that hp does not stack like this. You cannot just add them all up, but it enhances all sections of the RPM band and you will have alot more power per RPM.
So seeing as how the 2.2 is 148hp and 155lbs torque on an 07, it is feasible that 52 more horses could be had on a motor such as the Ecotec.
With an older motor, I would say you would be lucky to get another 20 horses.
The 2.2 Ecotecs seem to have a lot of potential, even though they are the base model motor.
14 second 1/4s for an NA 2.2 is incredible in my opinion.
Didn't someone here use 10.5:1 compression pistons on their 2.2?
That alone with 91 octane and a tuning would be a nice power adder.

on street tires though in a Cobalt you might be able to pull a high 14/low 15 but then you'd need a way to tune in the first place so yeah...
