Unless something drastic happens, chevy will never be on a contending level in the 4-cyl department with honda. There are just too many honda fanatics out there. The ss/sc will get plenty of mods, because it was built with performance in mind. The amount of people modding the base models is slim at best. A company making full-scale performance mods and kits for the cobalt base models and such would probably go bankrupt.
It's easy enough to get cams and such made. Call comp and they'll make you a set of cams for whatever application and it only costs like 20 bucks more for a custom grind. Pistons and rods can all be found through companies like eagle and je that have internals for EVERYTHING. Even turbo kits are pretty easy to peice togeather as long as you can find a manifold.
Getting power mods for the motor is easy enough, what needs to be made is better suspension and handling upgrades. From what I've seen from looking around all we really get is the basic set of lowering springs and some strut bars...

yeh exactly. i believe that once the turbo's start coming out more mods will follow close behind. yeh the LS isnt an SC but i see alot more LS's around here in El Paso (a huge city with 600,000 people) then the SS's or SS/SC's. i think its pretty equal as far as popularity.

you are not gonna want the sc gm kit for the 2.2 cause it is not aftercooled like the SS is, so you will only be able to get 250 hp out of it max, ever, thats it, that is the cap, no more, nada, doesn't matter how much you do, waste of 1500 dollars, so what you should do insted, is get a turbo kit or get a custom turbo setup made then you will be happy and after you do some internal replacement and such you will be rolling around with a 350 hp sleeper that can eat srt-4's for a snack!!!
