The 2.2 is moving on up!!!

The 2.2 is finally almost done now to go along with my other mods i have sitting at the house waitin to be installed is the 2.4 intake manifold swap, fogs for my ss/sc bumper, ss/sc springs, and the ss/sc manifold and downpipe i hope that my setup will be nice when i finally get done with up and then really beat those ricers bad

nice, where you get the 2.4 intake manifold and how much and is it a direct swap?

soccer go to CED they have the 2.4 manifold for 234 and it comes with an adapter plate for the throttle body

wdsoccer, the install is a breeze! Its a direct swap and you only need several tools for the whole job. I highly recommend it.

The install is easy so how long did it take you to do ?it and can you notice the power change? Does it make your intake louder?

It is an awesome power change according to reports and dyno's from CED. It is a single molded piece instead of 2 pieces glued together like the stock 2.2 manifold, and it is larger so it helps lean out our already UBER rich fuel mixture. They were attempting to swap the throttle body as well but the car goes into limp mode because there is so much more air that the engine shuts down cuz it thinks there is a leak

I was thinking the same there. he should see some gains just because they are better parts. plus I am sure he got them pretty well discounted from other members.

the gain the manifold gives you is great if you're just shooting for dyno #s. Only problem is it seems to kill your tq #s. Personally I wouldn't do it unless you plan on f/i or raising your rpm limit to take advantage of it. From the dynos I've seen it'll increase your max hp but I'd bet there's not much, if any gain in acceleration. I wanna see some time slips.

Guys, I just got my car off the dyno and I retract my statements about the 2.4 manifold. I know others have gotten decent gains, but my power only increased in the last 700 rpms or so. It gave me 9 peak whp, but decimated my torque curve from 3500 all the way to 5500 rpms. I guess that tells you how accurate my "seat of the pants dyno" was. I think this manifold is a little too big for the 2.2; I even lost 5 peak lb-ft of torque. I'll be going back to the old manifold tomorrow morning.

Yup. Anyone want a 2.4 intake manifold?


Seriously though, I wouldn't dump this one on anyone. However, if they are going turbo it wouldn't be bad for them. I might save it for down the road anyways. I'll just consider it as a $250 lesson and let it be.

If you plan on raising your rev limit or going turbo down the road I'd hold onto it. The fact is you're just not pumping enough air stock to make the best of it.

I agree totally Nova. I was just suprised at how much it hurt me down low. The CED dyno runs as well as some of the other member's runs did not show that. I figured on a little tq loss, but not that much and not for such a huge range.

The power band not only shifted, but never got all the way up to where it was before. I lost 5 peak lb-ft of torque and it came 700 rpms later than before. I had lower torque for a period of 2000 rpms ; there goes all my acceleration.

I hear ya' Dallas. What I really want is tuning: The fuel delay thing has got to go; with it off, we should be able to get almost 1000 extra rpms of full torque. I would take that over bad low end torque and a few extra ponies at the very top.

x2, most definitely. A good tune would work wonders, especially after adding bigger injectors. The thing that pisses me off most right now is my governor kicking in at 105.

Yeah, today when I had it on the dyno, the guy had it in 4th and all of a sudden, BAM! They forgot I was just a base model. Needless to say the subsequent runs were done in third.
