As far as superchargers go, lets try not to be so general as far as they go, lets discuss as far as the M62. The M62 on the 2.2 has shown nice gains as proven with the Cavalier but besides being somewhat limiting to power cause of the supercharger itself, heat is the biggest issue you'll be running into. The fact is that the aftercooling system that the Cobalts & Redlines use isn't as efficient as it should be. So before we worry about how "limiting" to power they can be, think more of the aftercooling system and the tendencies of high temperatures as far as the intake air temperatures (IAT).
Also, the 2.2 Supercharger Kit does not come with the aftercooler system hooked up, but it comes aftercooler ready. There are more parts you'd need to purchase (basically the same parts the Cobalt SS/SC & Redline use).
To the original poster, if you're still interested in trying to get this kit, wasn't necessarily made for your application even though you have a 2.2 motor. It was made for the J-bodies but theoretically it will fit your motor since it's basically the same motor. Now, the thing about it is that it comes with a Reflash to convert the J-bodies IAT & MAP sensor combo into a single TMAP sensor that would plug right into the top of the supercharger (if you look at my signature, you can see the sensor). The reflash also allows your computer to read above atmospheric pressure (boost pressure) and supply the suffient amount of fuel per load. This reflash will not work for your PCM (and no, you can't swap PCMs either).
Currently, there is nothing that you can use for your application as far as adjusting fuel and/or adjusting ignition timing (tuning).
To address xCobalt05x, yes, they use turbochargers and generate that much power but there is alot more engineering involved then using a turbocharger and turning up the boost. I just want people to understand that the M62 is a decent upgrade as long as they are looking for a decently reliable, low maintenance, decently power upgraded addition to their vehicle. Not everyone is looking for some low 12 second 4 cylinder beast of a car...some people just want a little more pep in its step, which is what it does.

I got a 03 Cavalier with the 2.2 blower kit on it, I dynoed at 222 at the wheels, with a intercooler an intake and exhaust, and stock pulley, it keeps up with my buddies cobalt ss with 19lbs of boost

Um....NO the GM supercharger kit says right in its description that it takes the 2.2 Cavaliers and Sunfires to 200 HP. I don't know where this 30hp, 75hp, or 175hp stuff came from but its wrong. All you need do is go to any GM dealer, open the performance parts book and you can read for yourself 200 HP from a 2.2.
And that kit is NOT for the Cobalt but rather only the Cavi's and Sunflowers.

Save the money, keep the car for awhile, then upgrade to the ss/sc, thats what i did it built my credit and i got the ss/sc under 0% financing as a 19 year old.

i looked a little bit into it and they say the eaton m45 designed for a the base cobalt brings the hp up to 205 from 145, and from there you just put in the stage 1&2 kits pulley, inj, and such boosts it to around 245.

one moment is the supercharger there going to install for a 03-05 cavalier ecotec i thought the 2.2's in them was different then the cobalts 2.2 motors but im not sure if thats the case the 2.2 supercharger is for a cavalier cause when i had my 03 i was looking for them to release it and it wasnt released when i got my cobalt
