2.2L governor

i've seen this post before but it was a while ago. im wondering if they came out with any mods to remove the governor or raise it. if so i was wondering how and where to get it done.

The governor can't be physically removed. You would have to get the software of the LT that came with 16 inch tires and rims on their to get rid of it If you have the conti's on your car don't even bother getting it removed as they only rated to 109MPH. Not like you should be going that fast anyway.

The govenor on the 2.2 cars is there for several reasons. First off the tires are not rated nor capable of speeds much greater then its limited to. GM put it there so they're not lible if you lose a non speed rated tire at 130+ mph. Also the suspension isn't built for it. The SS cars have different lower control arms BUILT for speed as well as larger brakes and better struts. They also sit lower which makes them more stable at high speed. The bace model cars are too soft and sit sit too high to be stable at speed.

Once you build the car to be able to handle the speeds you want then you'll already know how to achieve it. Till then all your doing is wanting to hurt yourself.

Don't even bother wasting your time and money. Just drive the base model til it dies or you trade it in.

If you have read it before, you search for it instead of making a new thread.

Governor ??? Take notice of post #6

govener on 2.2L post #2 and #3

If you continue reading you will find that you have to get your car tuned, can get a dealer to up the governor (if you have better tires and if the dealer is not a dick) or you can add a switch that disconnects the speed sensor (but you will never know how fast your going, and good luck with waranty work when they find it).

All you have to do is read. Is it really that difficult?

if you can afford a s2000 then wtf are you doin in a base balt??? the governor can be fixed wit a tune. but why bother with that when the 2.2 pretty much stops pullin hard after 110mph.

and cobalts dont suck. its ass clowns like you drivin them that gives the rest of us a bad name.

the governer is there for a reason, unless you plan on a rebuilt of the 2.2-probably not a good idea. The only reason i dont have a governer is cuz i am the beta tester for the automatic tune. Do i go over 100? nope. no reason. even on the track i wont get that fast without some serious mods.

He's obviously a little kid who got his feelings all hurt after he tried to race someone in a Honda and now for some reason he's sure just cause they had 4 cars on him by 105 that he could run them down if only that damn govenor wasn't there! Your right its kiddies like this one that give 2.2 owners a baaaad rep. Thats ok let him go get his S2000 cause I'm sure he can aford one I mean its a close toss up actualy, a bace model Cobalt or an S2000. The Cobalt one cause it had more cup holders.
