For 2.2's that want to go S/C

Hey yall,

There are a lot of different posts on here about guys either supercharging there 2.2 or 2.4. But they are very scattered and not real informative. SO I would like to start this thread to help all the guys that want to use a S/C set-up off of a 2.0 LSJ to supercharge there 2.2

I just bought a kit off of ebay from a member on here (I cant recall his name right this second) But I want to put a parts list together here. I am doing a very large build on my 2.2, but I just want to go over using the M62 S/C and I need some help too

you'll need:

the eaton M62 supercharger
LSJ intake manifold
heat exchanger
LSJ Throttle body (or you can use a bigger one that will fit, I have one off of a 4.2 trailblazer)
New intake
Tuning (seems to be coming out now......soon *knock on wood*)

there are a lot of miscellaneous parts that I am unsure of. You need a S/C gasket, but what sensors and things? Do you still use the stock MAF sensor, In pics I can see other sensors. Hopefully some guys that have done this can chime in and explain what sensors and how you hook them up. And what other parts may we need, bolts, gaskets etc.

as far as I know the only reason guys on here have had the idea that you cant is, they think the tranny cant take it. If thats the reason they think that then you can S/C a auto, the auto is listed as being able to handle a lot more TQ than either of the Manuals.

So I would think you could definitely S/C an auto. just make sure it gets tuned well.

ahh poop he posted right before me, theres your answer

HPTuners is capable of tuning the TCM. So the tuning of the transmission shouldn't be hard. Am I wrong?

It's recommended with an automatic that you get the shift plus and a tranny cooler though, to make the transmissions life a little longer

https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/how-guide-43/how-beck%92s-2-4l-supercharged-build-walkthrough-80620/

this helped me and should be very similar to our 2.2's

we just need tuning now

Get a good size tran cooler.

And have a lot of cash for the misc. items.

From my turbo upgrade I'm pushing 400 just in misc items.

I dont know of an entire kit for us. BUT the partial kit I bought from JimboSS is missing the belt, alternator, alternator bracket and tensioner. I found all of those parts I need to complete it on GM parts direct with no problem!!! Beck on his 2.4 S/C cut the belt. I really didnt want to do that, and to the best of my knowledge that problem will be alleviated by using the LSJ alternator. to use the LSJ alternator you need the alternator, bracket and tensioner.

I will also be using the LSJ oil pan. You can buy it brand new off GMpartsdirect. It holds more oil which will help with cooling and of course, lubrication.

I just love how all these parts are so easily interchangeable!

well i was on here first, but not a member (yet)
And im so done with OCC. I closed my account. screw that man, to many people that wanna start crap. Plus they get most of there info on here and pass it on. also there are way better 2.2's on this that can help and know what they are talking about.

brandon2.2 do you have a SC? you in the states? either way i guess our money is close now. How much this running you to get your engine blown . i wanna hear that whine so bad. I know GM parts can swap like it's nothing. I really hope this isn't to much money. If it's close to a turbo i might do that. I need a new clutch too if ima do this. But thats only like 500 for a stg4!!! that will clamp so hard.

not that occ 2.2's are no help. just not as done up as these 2.2's. I like looking up to people, and learning what they know.

the S/C is on its way to my house. It was $700 off ebay and I am getting the S/C, intake manifold, heat exchanger, and other stuff like injectors and harness etc....

I think putting an M62 kit together from the LSJ is the cheapest route for F/I

go to the classifieds on here, there is a thread on here where a butt-load of guys are selling there S/C for like 300-400 dollars. Get the S/C, then if you cant find a used intake manifold from someone or on ebay, then go to GM parts direct (gmpartsdirect.com) and you can buy one new from GM.......then there is some other stuff you need. I think you can do it for less the $1,500, you can do it for less than that, depends on where you end up getting all the stuff and what not.

I am not putting my blower on until well after September of this year. I am going to Aviation Maintenance Technician "A" school in the Coast Guard in April, it is 5 months and I am starting my whole build after "A" school.

Nice man, thats awsome. I can't wait to get the money to do this.

Thanks for the thread tip. I still wanna find the whole part list. My wifes uncle is a mech. so he might be able to hook me up with all this stuff.

if there is a list can someone link me?

Do you know what tranny cooler would be best for a auto 2.2 with a shift plus by any chance? thanks

Ps: i was looking at some B&M's but not sure on which one

I'm curious what is the torque rating on our Auto trannies? I'm thinking about buying an M62 off of someone here and want to know how much wiggle room I have before I upgrade the tranny.

VERY nice, 325 Ft lbs. (of course I'll keep it safe and stay around 300 when I get to that point)
