If you drive the same after the install the fuel milage will probably remain the same. The major change is that the 2.4 intake allows more air to go into the cylinders at higher RPM. My 06 LS got 33 MPG on the highway (70 MPH) with the 2.4 manifold installed.

I agree...better to be prepared for anything from a damaged seal to proper sealing. But money can be an issue for some...still can get the parts cheaper (especially when adding shipping costs) from CED.

ok, i just installed the 2.4 mani last night, and my car idles high, about 1400rpm and when coming to a stop it sticks at 1800 untill i come to a full stop then it returns to normal. any ideas? btw i have to go to court for a 86 in a 45 now, damn manifold

Did you but the CED kit or piece it together? Doesn't make sense that it idles at a high RPM until you stop. Main possibility is a gasket leak -- 4-intake gaskets, a PCV plate/gasket, and the TB gasket. Did you use the TB plate?

That's definitely an intake leak. Take if off, check the rubber gaskets, and reinstall.
Also, you won't be getting more mpg for the manifold, you will drop because of the slight low end torque loss.

Yeah its weird, it idles @ 1400rpms when i push in the clutch to shift it revs up about 400rpms, then when i take it out of gear to stop it revs up to 1700 and stay there untill i fully stop, then back to to 1400. You dont think i messed up the sensor when i cleaned out the throttle body do you? i had everything disconnected from the tb and i used a solvent safe for sensors. also i dont know if this is the sound the manifold makes by having it on but as i hit about 2500 rpms it almost sounds like a turbo spooling up. not sure if thats normal or an indication of a leak. other then that it runs great, sounds good. no cel

so the brake booster hose will cause that? kinda strange. when you did your bb did you fully remove it off the firewall or no? i wonder if that may have something to do with it, i pulled mine a little hard and it popped out the back, went back in with no problem though. what do you recommend to use to tighten the hose?

With the engine running can you hear a whistling noise at the brake booster? Try light spraying some soapy water around the bb connector and see if the engine RPM changes -- if it does that would be your leak...

Does your brake hose pull off of the nipple near the throttle body with very little effort? If it doesn, clamp it or get smaller sized hose.
Did you forget a gasket?
Did you break the nipple the hose goes on?
Did you reconnect the EVAP hose?
Did you reconnect the crankcase vent?

everything is hooked up, all gaskets, the bb hose wont pull off the manifold, its on pretty tight, but i think where i cut the original bb hose and used the fitting to connect them might be where the leak is. my evap hose is on, but as i said i did clean out my tb when i swapped the manifolds, it had alot of build up on it. is it possible it could be something with that?

hey sorry to be asking this but i thought i saw something regarding this somewhere else. i just wanted to know if the 2.4 intake mani would change the positioning of the throttle body. so that i wouldnt be able to use the cold air intake i have now. i may be seeing things or going crazy but i would like to know before i drop like 300 bucks on something i cant use. thanks

i don't know. but i've heard people say that the tb on the 2.4 ss is a little more towards the passenger side. like enough to throw off the tubing for an intake. i wanted to make sure before i went and bought the 2.4 mani and was stuck with a 230$ injen sri for the rest of my life.

The 2.4L intake manifold has the TB centered on the manifold, the 2.2L intake manifold has the TB offset towards the driver's side. It' about a .5" difference. Should be able to take up the difference with a coupler -- if not, cutting the tube .5" (where a coupler attaches) should make it work.
