the 07's don't need the tb gasket or plate and if the 08 follows suit they won't need it either. he's aware that he will need the 2.4 pcv gasket. i pointed that out in a pm.

But will the 08 TB-to-manifold gasket work/fit on the 2.4 manifold? The 07 2.2 TB-to-manifold Gasket won't fit the 2.4 manifold. I'm not referring to the CED plate and CED TB-to-plate gasket here -- it's the one that fits in the 2.4 manifold to mount the TB on -- isn't that different?

so wait the 2.4 mani kit WILL fit an 08 2.2? sorry I'm confused and tired and writing an essay so i just wanna make sure

yes it will but the kit will be a waste just get the components you need to make it work.

according to crateenginedepot they havnt tested it with results yet, i'm trying to work with them to get some dyno of before and after and mainly see if the part is compatible, sounds like it sound fit by the previous posts in this thread.

I have an '08 LT also, and I'm a little confused about what parts I need other than the manifold itself. And can the parts all be ordered through GM?

Okay, I just ordered all my stuff.(cant tell you about ALL of it, but heres whats relevant to this thread )

So thats whats need to put an LE5 intake on an '08 L61. I should have most stuff tomorrow, I hope. Install on Friday if Ive got the manifold and seals(the hose is 5 days out)

I also ordered an LE5 and an LAP throttle body, Ill take some measurements of all 3(L61, LAP, LE5) throttle bodies and post em up since there always seems to be such discussion over what sizes stuff really is. I honestly dont know what size the LAP t/b is, Ive heard 3 differemt sizes, I am hopinmg its bigger than L61 and smaller than LE5.

i have an 08 cobalt ls i put on the 2.4 manif swap about 3 months ago it works fine u dont need the spacer plate the tb bolts right up

Let address what I purchased, the numbers are listed on page2 but its the 2006-2007 2.4L intake manifold, the throttle body gasket, the crankcase vent passage seal, and the vacuum power brake hose. From GMPD any online parts house this stuff will likely run right about $200. Or about $45 less than the CED kit. Now the key here is that if you can do without the brake hose and youre okay extending yours, you can cut another $45 from that, to get you down to $155!

So now we know, you dont NEED a brake hose, you can just extend yours

Next is the MAP sensor. The MAP sensor on your car('08) is held in place with a 10mm headed bolt. and the sensor "stem" is .465" in diameter(almost 15/32")
The MAP sensor on the 2.4 mani is held in place by a little clip, no worries, your 08 sensor will work with this clip. However the port in the manifold is only .405" in diameter, which means it needs to be enlarge by .060"(1.5mm) a 15/32" drill bi should do this fine, I plan on using a 1/2" diameter flap wheel sander, like using for porting, whatever you use, take your time and clean out debris very well

Throttle body: the 08 2.2 throttle body has 5 mounting holes, arranged as rectangle with an extra on the top left. The 2.2 uses 3 of the rectangles corners and the one extra hole. The 2.4L manifold has its 4 holes aranged in a rectangle shape, so all you do is move the bolt from the odd placed hole and use the 4 corners of the rectangle to mount the 2.2TB to the 2.4mani. Youll notice that the shape of the 2.4 manifold an the 2.2 TB match almost exactly, again it will look totally factory, it doesnt appears as a mishmash of parts.

The 2.4 manifold has a significantly larger opening to the plenum(under the TB) than the 2.2 does, so the 2.2 tb to manifold seal appears quite different in size, and there are two different seals available(one for each manifold) However if in an emergenc or if you just want to save $10, the 2.2 TB seal WILL FIT in the 2.4 manifold. I do recommend using the proper one though, cheap insurance.

The 2.4 and the 2.2 can easily share the seals where the manifold attaches to the head, HOWEVER There is one seal that is REQUIRED, and that the crankcase vent passage seal. It goes in the manifold in between the #2 and #3 runners. Its got a plate with calibrated passage in the middle of it, and the plate also holds the seal in place, a regular o-ring style seal wont stay in place in the manifold because the port where this seal goes only has an outer wall, theres no inner wall to hold a seal in place.

The EVAP pipe is in the same location and poses no issues.

The vacuum power brake hose attaches low and near the back of the 2.2 manifold and uses a mechanical quick connect, the 2.4 manifold hose attaches at the top front, immediately below the TB, and it simply slides on and is clamped to the nipple. You can purchase the 2.4L hose as I did to avoid modifying any parts and maintain a 100% factory look, OR you can save $35-50 and simply extend your current booster hose to reach the 2.4 vacuum source by using some over the counter hose or a salvage yard piece.

Though the 2.4 manifold appears much cleaner and smoother it still does have the necessary mounting points for the oil dipstick/AC hos brackets as well as locations to secure all original harness clips.

I didnt recieve my throttle bodies or even all my seals so I dont have complete review yet, but that addresses all the physical issues I believe.

Just so you know, the 2008 2.2L TB is 2.38"/60.5mm Ill add the sizes of the others once Ive phsically measured them

see how the TB looks like it belongs(you can also see the MAP sensor hole an EVAP pipe)

Nice write-up...in the third picture (of the 2.4 manifold) do you have the plastic filler-plate that goes in the opening? You don't show it in the picture and need it to keep the seal from being "sucked-in".

There is a plate that goes inside the opening on the 2.4 manifold. You can see the notches on each side for it just above the screwdriver handle.

Red, I never even took notice if the divider plate was in the box or not, I was just posting the info, not installing, but Ive either got one handy, or can "procure" one from something else.


A little more info. ALL 2007-newer 2.2's use the same 2.38" TB, the L61, LAP and LE8, all the same.
And there is also only one TB for all 2007-newer 2.4s, but I havent been able to measure it yet, maybe later today.
