Assuming that you are talking about the piece between #2 and #3 Cylinder outlets, then that is the PCV Seal. AKA Crankcase Ventilation Seal. It is not on the 2.2 manifold because it was one piece incorporated during the molding process, hence just a hole. In the 2.4 Manifold it was produced separately therefore you have the Copper Plate with the Green Seal. All it does is basically replicates what the 2.2 manifold has built in. It provides a vacuum limiter for crankcase ventilation as that if too much air got in, it would cause your car to idle around 3000 rpm instead of the normal 775. Also it provides fresh air to the spaces in the crankcase as well as the vacuum ports in the head, fresh air is vital to longevity of internal engine parts as it not only cools slightly but it also prevents a certain corrosion associated with steel vs. aluminum. So that part is VITAL. make sure it gets installed properly.

i know this thread is old but i have a question and need it to be cleared up... 07' 2.2 need an adaptor plate to install the 2.4 tb? if so does anyone have the part number?
