well its all right there in the title. should i get the 2.4 manifold or not. can anyone give me some concrete testimonials. cause it's either 2.4 mani or trifecta tune. what's better in your opinions. thanks! mods are in my sig if that'll affect answer. not much, but it works.

sounds like good advice. but only thing i'm worried about is that low end loss. i know you gain it back. but just as any normal person i drive around town alot and have an auto, so i'm almost always in low rev.

dude you'll be fine trust me i love it!! i wish i got more then a week with it before someone crashed into me but trust me its great and when you wanna go you floor it anyway. idk how the cobalt transmission goes but i would think it would downshift so you'll hop into that powerband quick. Plus, its not like the car is half as powerful at low end now, i just notice there isnt a sudden punch at 3500-4000 of torque, then start to wheeze, its smoother at that range and not as much of a kick but then smoothly starts to pull harder then it did. completely worth it IMO and an easy install. seemed intimidating at first but it wasnt bad at all! i would say go for it even with an auto i would never wanna go back.

so cliff notes: dont get the manifold if you cant deal with the loss of power untill you get the tune

This is exactly my issue as well. I'm not sure the 2.4 manifold is worth it for someone who isn't often above 4k.

yeah i know i can get it for less. but i don't really feel like ordering parts from here and there. it's hard to order stuff when you don't have a credit card to begin with. lol.

online junkyards are your friend, I don't know this wheazing you guys speak of, my 06 wheazed like a mo fo past 4500, but this 07 just keeps going and going and going The best advice I can give you from experience is the exhaust manifolds on your 2.2s are pathetic http://**************/viewtopic.php?t=6129 there is a pic a ways down showing the most obvious obstruction in your manifold, a big piece of metal. so, switch it out for an LSJ manifold (I did the whole exhaust minus the manifold as my car came with it). Second, tune your car, this will correct your fuel/air ratios to keep the engine from going super rich at WOT which keeps you from your power potential. Next, throttle response, which is a problem across the ecotec lineup (it even caused my cruise to be rough, even the car knows it needs more throttle response) so port and polish your TB and get a smooth metal CAI (if you don't already have one) this will take care of that. If, once you have done all that, you decide you want more, get the 2.4 intake manifold, but I don't see a point on my car. If you think you will want to go to the 2.4 manifold, ask vince when he tunes your car to raise the rev limiter to 7K, that will accommodate the new manifold nicely when you get it, and when you get the manifold I recommend getting a 2.4 TB, too, which will require more tuning, so find a dealer to work with if you think you want to go this option.

5spd is so much better

I agree, 5speeds are better, but I wish we had a real transmission, like a 6 speed. I have driven 4 speed cobalts, and the transmission really impressed me, what didn't is the traction control, but I've only been impressed by one car's trection control, my sister's pontiac grand prix.
