Question 2.4 SS muffler on 2.2 LT... possible?

well im possibly going to be buying an SS muffler from another member on here.. and i was just wondering if i will run into any complications once i get it welded it on to the stock piping on my 07 LT.. i just want the muffler for looks, because the ones that came with the LS/LT look cheap as ***... im not looking for any performance gains, strictly looks as i drive a automatic 2.2 and its my daily driver.

iv been researching this but cant come up with any clear answers.

also, how will it sound once its installed?

thanks for any input and help.

i will be buying this: i believe its off his 2.4 cobalt..

if you weld it up to the stock 2.2L exhaust piping you will be fine, the hangers and everything will be a direct fit. I put a 2.0 full exhaust on my 2.2L.

The sound will be a lil deeper but not much at all, if you want ur car to get more performance and or louder go with a full exhaust.

It will look better if that is what u are going for.

Thanks man, yeah im just going for looks right now.. like i said, its a 2.2 auto and serves as my daily driver.... to school and back, groceries, taking my bros to school, etc.. so im not into the whole racing, or performance dept.. you know?

i just hate the stock exhaust on my LT.. lol so i wana weld this one in.

im not looking for the whole riced out deep tone, just a nice subtle tone.. so hopefully i can achieve that by just welding this one to my LT.

you will be fine with that. also when I welded the ss muffler to the ss exhaust piping there is a line that goes down the pipe acting as a center line. look closely and you may see it. when u cut your stock muffler off and weld the new ss muffler on line up the two lines then weld and ur new muffler will be as straight as if it was on there stock. the tip wont hang or anything. u will be good to go.

just a lil advice b/c i took the time and it came out right, also paint it with high temp black paint to hide all the big silver muffler that u can see. make sure u wire wheel down the whole muffler or just sand it, paint it then weld it together

You could always go to autozone and get a an exhaust chrome tip.

I can understand if you want the real deal though.

Nope, not going for that cheap **** from auto stores.. id rather pay for an OEM part.

this is what i have at the moment.. i have the chrome tip from GM Accessories.. got it from a friend who works at a dealer, he took the display and gave it to me..

but im looking to get the SS muffler instead, it looks hella better and installing it will be easy cuz i have another friend in the family that owns an auto shop where the do piping, exhaust installs, etc.

If it still sticks down a little you could get the GM lip kit and that would give the car a lowered look and hide the muffler a little more.
