2.4 Throttle Body on 2.2
#26
just have someone port your current 2.2 TB, thats what I've done.
as far as the 2.4 intake manifold, I'm taking mine off...car feels slower with it on. Granted the 2.4 mani I got had a broken evap tube and I couldn't/can't get a replacement for it...not worth the trouble IMO. I tried to stick some radiator hose over the broken piece and even if it is slightly leaking I still didn't feel anything that would be worth it for me to fix it.
I do now realize that this upper RPM pull that everyone talks about I've already gotten from my headwork. And I wouldn't clasify that as a "gain" but more of a shift of the powerband.

I'm gonna give the 2.4 TB a try anyway, it can't hurt to try, and it dont take long to swap out.
I need to get another intake for my car, I hate the stock one

If you wanna know the difference, floor your car in second gear and notice how the car's power seems to start to die after ~5400 rpm. With a 2.4 manifold it keeps pulling til redline

well, i don't think an ass dyno can tell the difference between gaining or losing 4 whp it's been shown from graphs that it doesn't add any power, it just shifts the powerband. which means if it's pulling harder up top, it's pulling less down low.

Also engine operation is smoother

Yeah, but is the car any faster? If it shifts the powerband higher then it takes longer for the car to actually pick up and go. It might feel faster and have more power in the upper rpms... but how does it affect your 1/4

I found my low end torque was completely killed by adding my 2.4L manifold.
I raced my friends 05 5 speed 2.2L and he destroys me off the line badly (1.5 cars at least) but I don't have a problem pulling away from him on the highway.

The 2.4 throttle body didnt work. The car idles fine but as soon as you get it around 3k with a load the car goes into limp mode and completely shuts down the throttle body.

I figured that'd happen. How did the TB's look compared side by side, is the 2.4 TB that much bigger?

I'm not surprised but a little dissapointed... check out this info that blktrax sent me...
I have never thrown a code ever.
The trick is mines an 07 with the e37 ECU.
I made my own harness adapter to use an 05-07 2.4 TB but I didnt like it because the connector I used wasn't as weather-proof as the factory one. But it did work for about a month till I got my hands on an 08 2.4L TB.
Heres how the parts break down.
05-06 2.2L - uses 8 wire TB
05-07 2.4L - uses 8 wire TB
07+ 2.2L - uses 6 wire TB
08+ 2.4L - uses 6 wire TB
I would say if you have and '07 you're safe. The computer has no issues learning new idle, or idle issues, the idle is accually smoother and throttle response is way better. However on my dyno runs after installing the TB along with the exhaust manifold and larger ss/sc downpipe; the air/fuel mix leaned out about a point. But not really a concern of mine because I've run 91+ octane fuel since day one in this car.
This might be the reason you're idling fine and running Limp Mode at WOT.
