Post 2.4 VVT Head

I had an idea to put the 2.4 VVT head on my 2.2 and I was wondering if it would work and if it would help at all?

It may work if you have an 07 L61 because it has the 58X Crank reluctor ring just like the LE5 does. But you would then need to tune for the change in displacement.

That sounds like something to the effect of the cams being interchangeable, reversible, or backwards compatible. It might be easier and less expensive in the long run to swap the entire motor. sw4y1313 is right. Your ecu will will need reprogramming or pcm reflashed, whatever may apply. Now that race-proven turbo kits are finally available for the 2.4, expect to see a lot of people coming back to the 2.4L. Most are going to discover they will increased in pricing and have less availability. GM's real goal to "raritize" the 2.4 N/A thus comes to fruition. I am not completely sure of the exact number, but only a "handful" of 2.4 N/A's with VVT were produced. I'm glad I got mine before it disappears. VVT is absolute genious, and if you really want that motor get it while you can. Completely modify the drivetrain, then if you still want a turbo, you have a lot more freedom with your boost pressure. No hearing **** like, "Stage 3 kit?, ummmm you're gonna need a rebuild." In a few more years 2.4L's are going to rule the streets with completey tweaked drivetrains and custom turbos with unheard of amounts of boost. I'll be ready. My life insurance paid in full.

it will be several grand...and you really wont see a gain in HP. maybe a few horses..the equivalent to a full exhaust maybe. Its expensive as hell for no gain, and it would be cheaper to just buy the whole 2.4 engine

I remember reading somewhere that the missing tooth are not at the same angle to TDC on the LSJ 58x ring and the LE5 58x ring, so I guess it should be different too on the 07 L61...

Having a bad crank angle reading will lead at best to car not starting at all, at worst to a big BANG at the first crank attempt

Trade your car in for a LAP?(It's practically a smaller LE5). Or better yet trade it in for an actual LE5 if you want the VVT that badly.
