There has been a TV show called "Redline" that did an intake and exhaust, they claimed about 15 hp gain. You probably could get another 10-15 with the cam, if you can get tuning for it. Presently there is no tune that I know of for the 2.2L 2005-6 cobalt. The 2007 is in testing phases from HP Tuners. 05-6 is different computer. If you want more than 150 at the wheels, you will need to super, turbo, or nitro.

Exhaust
Since this started out as an exhaust thread, I thought I would add my two cents. For a total of $30 I changed my exhaust and like the way it came out. I too came from the V8 (and V10) world. What I did was cut off the muffler had a shop weld an extension on and put a C6 corvette tip on. That was that. It has given me about a mile per gallon over stock, and I estimate about 7 hp at the flywheel. I have never dynoed, but I am going to the 1/8 mile track in my area tomorrow night. I don't plan on doing much because I need a warranty, but I couldn't drive around in anything stock. I don't think it sounds ricey, but it isn't a V8. The C6 is like a small glass pack and it actually "mellowed" (sp) the tone a bit. Anyway, that's my story.

Just get a stock SS/SC exhaust from one of the guys here that has it for sale. Cat back bolts right up hangars and all. Then get you a mangaflow muffler and I bet you would be happy with that. Not ricey at all. I think mine has a lot of depth to it and not the fart can sound. My neighbors Honda is much louder and is 100% rice-burner. Of course I have the magnaflow muffler that comes with the actual Magnaflow cat-back kit so that might make a difference. I can take some measurements if needed.

I just bought the pacesetter it was cheap and if I dont like it Im not out that much but it sounds alright in the video when your on it but when you let off that crackel would get on my nerves but I have an auto so I should not get that crackel while driving.
I have been wondering now that the cat back desion is made whats your guys opinion on the best cold air intake I like aem because I can get it cheap from a buddy of mine (fello car builder lots of hook ups). but is there a better one out than that.
