So the options ive seen are 2.5in and 3in downpipe and exhaust, but ive seen many people say just do 2.5in for bolt ons, but would 3in allow more escape and ultimatelly be better? or is there something there im not seeing.

2.5. 3 in. is for boosted cars or cars close to 300 HP or more

the debate between which is better could go on all day i have 2.5 inch exhaust of lnf i dont see the need for a 3"

I have a 3" all the way back but im running a turbo. 2.5 is fine for N/A and even moderate boost.

N/A and supercharge applications you should do 2.5"

Turbo should be 3" if you get some good power.
