It's not an unattainable goal, certainly not for this engine. You're going to need a full engine rebuild, bottom and top end built and polished. You will need a new fuel pump, because there's no way you're going to be able to supply 79# injectors on stocker. Stage 2 axles, if you're a manual you'll need a new clutch and a prayer to the divine. All that just to make it a dyno queen, that's not getting power to the ground. After that you need drag bags, slicks, mounts, maybe some brakes.
Just some idea what all you're going to need.

can i ask a question? how old are you <-OP

Its 1000whp...I've seen the dyno's on it...
I should get it up here for you guys... Anyways he said it was only pushing about 530 on the street we were on cause he had to use a lower octane gass and the engine was knocking but it still blazed....felt pressure in my ears and my eyes started to water... thing was a monster...said including the car he put over 80k into it

my reccomendation. Get the garrett turbo kit (the one that does not include a tune), and go to trifecta performance to get a tune there. make sure he limits the peak power to around 220whp (so you dont blow the stock engine). If you still want more after that, swap turbos, and buy pistons and rods and retune. That and an exhaust is all you need for a 400whp build. $3k for turbo kit, $1k for rods/pistons, $275 per tune, unknown cost for upgraded turbo
Im aiming for 400-450whp myself, but ill be taking a somewhat more expensive route

As far as I know with my limited knowledge...
You would need to do EVERYTHING and I mean EVERYTHING to this car. Total internal rebuild, Rods, Pistons, Bored cylinders, comp valves and cams, Big turbo kit with intercooler, Comp exhaust with a tune... maybe change and reprogram the computer... and nos...
Dude its gonna tak ALOT to make this thing happen the way you want but like my friend said... anything is possible as long as you have the $$.
Engine swap? Thats gonna take ALOT of $$ and time and... whoa... Different set up and you will be spending alot of $$ to get what? 200hp fromthe ss/sc?

Dude....get serious.
-If you had $6000 cash to spend on your $10000 car, you wouldn't be driving it.
-If $750 a month for the G8 is too heavy, then you CAN NOT afford to build a 400hp 2.2L cobalt.
If you really, REALLY want a 400hp daily driver, you started with the wrong car. Save your money. If you plan on keeping the car for a while, do some things that won't hurt the reliability.
Intake/exhaust/header/downpipe/pullies/PCM tune/engine mounts and have a nice fun car to drive.
How old are you?....seriously?...16?
Sorry to be a dick but this happens ALL THE TIME here....Big pipe dreams and in 6 months the car is stock or close to it...or traded in on an SS.
If you have to finance 10k, you dont have 6k to throw at the car.

Yeah, most of the time that's true.
But think of all the imports that buy their cars for < 2000 and invest over 10k.
Just something that's done on a personal basis, but I agree if I had more money I wouldn't have bought a cobalt. I happen to have a better job now and resale value is ****, so here I am.
