Anyone buy a short throw shifter from e-Bay?

I was looking on e-Bay to see if I could get a price break since I just got my Cobalt and there's alot I want to do. I saw this shifter (link posted below) but they have no name brand. Anyone have this on their 2.2? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SHORT...QQcmdZViewItem

i agree, although for like an eclipse, there are shifters that are b&m without the price. but yeah, id stick to the twm or b&m shifter. the ebay ones are probably not tested at all, just made from another design. so inproper design can cause stress on components when shifting.

Perfectly Clear also makes a short throw for our cars. its about 20 bux cheaper then twm and nicer because it comes with a heavier shift knob. you can also get them colored.

Considering they are saying it also fits 00-04 J-Bodies, I wouldn't take a chance on it. Spend the extra cash and get a quality product from TWM

Pretty much the same thing. Mine doesnt have the reverse lock out. But also i dont think that i would go with a shifter that is made for the cav and the balt. Im pretty sure that i would find something that was specific to the cobalt because fitting both sounds a little iffy to me.

Just look around and find something that has all the right bushings, etc and you will be fine. Like i said i spend alot of time on the road (im a delivery driver) and i have also drove from texas to pennsylvania with it and never once have i had any kind of problem with it.

Would you necessarily have to install the lockout?

I'm right here...and yeah I have that shifter...works just as good as the $150+ shifters...and looks nicer IMO.

Not everything on ebay is junk...my Projectors are awesome as well.

I have that with well over 50000 km on it and it is far better then the B&M ,TWM and the Hurst. Its all over 4"s tall and the heavy knob makes for very fluent shifts.
Well worth the money, fits 2.2 and 2.4s no problem. Fits the 2.0 with a small modification
But unlike what the description says it is a chrome Knob not Polished alluminum.

I'm still wondering from earlier, do you HAVE to install the reverse lockout on the shifter? I had one come stock on my old Cougar and I hated it.

No you can even get them without it on there i believe. The reverse lockout is just a piece of metal on the shifter that when not raised hits a piece of plastic on the car which keeps you from going into reverse. If the shifter you get doesnt have one it will make no difference whatsoever.
