Oh, you said impulse buy so I thought you were referring to the shifter we're talking about in this thread.
And Jim, it looks good. I really like the shift boot as well.

I know this thread is a little dated, but I got my e-Bay short shifter installed so I took pics and here it is. Works like a champ, and looks well, for a fraction of the cost of the TWM and Hurst.
Tell me what you think!

and is it REALLY a short shifter?
or just a shorter shaft.
and if you dont know what im talkin about....or the answer to the question....do a little reading about what a "short throw shifter" really is.
I tried to find out about the P-Clear shifter too....but no one would answer whether its actually a short shifter or just a hacked shaft.
completely agree with above: you get what you pay for.

Yes sir, it's a short shifter. My throws are shorter and crisper. My only complaint is the metal shift knob gets really freakin hot in TX, but it's nice and weighted.

just because the shifts are a bit shorter, doesnt mean its a true short shifter.
think of it like this.
If I popped your shift knob off, hacksawed an inch off of it, and put the knob back on....
technically your shifts would be a little shorter due to the angular distance.
but is that a short shifter (or ShortER shifter in this case )?
No.

theres a neat little flash picture on that page that helps explain it.
whats going on UNDER that pivot ball, makes a true short shifter.

Well man, I don't know, I've never driven another car with a short shifter. But my buddy that helped me install it has one on his Si, and he said it was much better than stock. All I can do for you is show you the link. I don't know how else to prove it. This short shifter is almost the same length as the stock one, the pivot point is just higher. Here
