BadMad Shorty Header Concerns

Was thinking about getting one of these for my 2.2L. Heard great things looking at other threads. Anybody have these for a non SC/TC though and like it?

Also, does it bolt to a stock downpipe? thanks

I had one on my 2.2 for years.. worked great! Bolts right up to stock dp I recommend at least getting a stock ss/sc dp though or you won't see much gain. Oh and FYI they won't fit an SS/TC

You mean SS/SC.

Yes, it will bolt up to your stock downpipe, but it is pointless due to the size of your stock downpipe. The badmab header has a 3" collector, and for best flow you will want to match it up with an aftermarket downpipe. Since youre a 2.2L, find a used stock LSJ downpipe if you are trying to keep cost down. That will be better than bolting the header to your actual stock downpipe.

I think he means on a non-Forced induction SS/or an ls/lt

I understand that.

I was correcting him because he said SS/TC. He meant to say SS/SC there. At least I hope he did.

That's odd.

The Badmab header is a direct replacement header. It fits just like the stock manifold.

What downpipe do you have on your car? That is more likely the cause rather than the header.

Here's an installed shot of my Badmab header:

Thats what I was talking to my bro about last night. The header wont really make a difference with a small downpipe. Are the LSJ downpipes the same size (length-wise and bolt pattern wise) as the LS? Also, if I upgraded the downpipe, He said a high-flow cat-converter would be A1, but I wouldnt pass emissions here in WI???

SS/TC's would never be able to use a shorty header.

That's what I was getting at. I was busting you man

What you should have said is non SS/SC's if you didnt want information from a forced induction model.

Yes, the LSJ downpipe is the same length as long as you have a manual trans.

The LSJ's stock downpipe already comes with a high flow cat, and will be an improvement over your stock downpipe.

As long as you dont throw a code.

but there are 2 ways to prevent that:

1. Have the rear O2 sensor tuned out.

or

2. Purchase an angled 02 sensor bung.

I also don't want to be annoyingly loud. Already have a Tsudo catback. How much louder does it get?

90% of your sound comes from your catback.

The header doesnt really make it much louder.

If you get an aftermarket downpipe, or LSJ downpipe it will get a touch louder.

It will be a pain in the ass. The automatic engine on the cobalt sits farther up so the downpipe from an LSJ doesn't fit as well. I have an LSJ DP on my 2.2 auto but it was a pain to get on and it has a small exhaust leak.

The Auto engine sits forward about 1" more compared to the manual.
