beating a mazda 3?

I have a friend with a Ls Cobalt 4 door 5 speed, and a friend with a Mazda 3 with the 2.0 and manual. The only mod on the cobalt was intake (injen) and the mazda had exhause. The Mazda won. So its hard to say.

does the ford focus(the new ones) use the same engine, cuz we have a 2.0 at my house and its fairly decent off the line. But the my cobalt is actually slightly faster. Now the 2.3 should be a closer race.

the 3's are very nice. the ones i test drove seemed very quick. i drove an auto and stick of the 2.0 and 2.3 in the sedan and the 2.3 A and M in the hatch. i would have bought one instead of my balt but they wanted 17k + a 1300$ "final checkup" on every car on the lot that they would not take off. so i told em to go to hell i didnt like them that much
