When people here say 'rice' they're usually talking about "rice" in which it means, a badly done/badly modified car. Read here:

ive got to agree, dont do the can. a nice magnaflow muffler with a double wall tip would look good. personally i like 3" tips, but of course i think im buying the dc sports (since i dont have time for custom exhaust) and its got a 4".
oh and can style mufflers usually have thin edges, which if you clean the muffler, can claim some skin. found out first hand several times cleaning my apex'i n1 i had on my saturn. i know i had a can before, but it sounded great on my friends eclipse (turbo, the killer to why!) so i blew $200 on getting one in smoked black. sounded pretty good though.
but again, hidden straight through (chamber if you like) muffler with a nice double wall tip always fits and looks great

Also just so you know because of the cross member in the back of the car that Race.Inspired.Cosmetic.Enhancement good for nothing muffler is gonna stick out approx. 4 1/2 inches past the bumper. It also does sound extremely "fart cannon" like on the ecotec 2.2 .

well, if he just welds the sucker on, then yes, I agree it will look like crap. Buuut, if he takes it to a muffler shop and gets a custom cat-back bent, he'll be able to get the piping made to hang the muffler lower, further in, and even add the angled effect like that of the ARK cat-back if he wishes. With a CUSTOM exhaust, you can get any muffler to clear any bumper, hence the word custom.
I mean hech, my roomates dad took Jeff's (roomate) stock STI muffler to a muffler shop, had a custom rear-section made, and then had the STI muffler welded on.............on his '93 Legacy sedan, lol.

Its not an issue of getting the pipe bent. The problem is anything greater tehn 16 inches will stick out because after coming over the rear crossmember the exhaust piping will have a 108 degree bend in it, Making it kinda V shaped. Then at the bottom it must be bent straight back again. Now to do this without completely ******* with the exhaust velocity it will leave room for approximatly 16 - 17 inches of muffler and tip.
