Block strength??

I've been learning all I can when time allows about the Ecotec engines and from what I gather, the LSJ, LE5 and LNF all use the 2nd GEN block that's stronger than the L61 am I correct? What I am wondering is how strong is the L61 block compared to the others and is it worth making a build based on the 2nd GEN block vs building up a L61? Does either the LSJ/LE5 block bolt right in a car that has a L61? I know the car has to be tuned and what-not. I'm looking to build me a reliable turbo engine that's going to last a long time and if the L61 will be sufficient for 350-370whp with pistons/rods then I'll just go with that. I was really wanting to use a LE5 for the bigger displacement. Thanx for any info thrown my way.

you will need alot more than just rods and pistons to make it reliable.. heres kinda a list of stuff that might help you out. i went a little off my build.. should make a reliable 400whp ish build...

turbo
turbo mani
Vulcan intake mani
spec 3+ clutch
throwout bearing
wiseco pistons
eagle rods
ARP head studs
79lb injectors + harness
Cosmetic head gasket
2.4 tb
Fmic + pipe
custom downpipe
3in cat back
ported or aftermarket head
valves
springs
Comp Cams camshaft
Oil return and feed lines
boost gauge
A/f Gauge
rod bearings
DDS stage 2 Axel's
plus ive got a zex wet kit

yeah thats basically my build besides Ive got a procharger instead of a turbo.. this should make a reliable 400whp if done rite

I know the usual driveline and supporting mods, my main question is if the L61 itself is strong enough to handle the power, if you wouldn't trust it, then I'll get me a LE5 engine to start my build. Would a GT25R or GT30R be a good turbo as the core of my turbo kit? I'm not looking to eclipse anything over 370whp and it must be able to make that on 93 oct. pump gas. Should be a hell of a fun little car for sure.
