A/C delete yay or nay?
ok so im sorta stuck. i wanna do the A/C delete on my car but im torn. ive never used it, nor do i like to. and it with the a/c stuff weighing in at about 50-60 lbs it would be good weight dropped. ive also heard that a/c ***** up the enviorment so if i can lose some weight, get some stolen horses back, and help the ozone, why the hell not lol.

Don't do it. Not worth the "50-60lbs"... It's not like cobalts are race cars that need weight reduction on a day to day basis. Leave the AC there.. Use it. Don't mess with it. That's the way I see it..

temp has nothing to do with it...you can turn on the ac with it all the way to hot and it will at as a dehydrator as well...
anywho...i believe it does come one when you have the front ac going...

New cars use R134a which is not harmful to the ozone, so no worries there.
Unless you are going to use your car strictly as a race car, don't remove it.

really not worth it.
i never use the A/C ether..but its still nice to have as a selling feature.
one day down the road when you want to sell your car and the person who wants to buy it says "why dont you have A/C" you will regret taking it out.

I wouldn't do it, 50 pounds isn't that much and it will be a bitch to put it back on when you have to. You are also correct in pointing out that the defrost uses the A/C. Without you will not be able to properly remove humidity from the air and defrost your windows anymore.

not to mention your car will be worth less and may develop issues if you take this out.
on top of everything already mentioned - not harmful to ozone, defroster ftw, a pain to take out/put in

Not a Sebring
Phil, stop trying to make your damn 2.2 a race car. Its a daily driven STREET CAR, so leave the freakin A/C intact, even if you don't use it. Lets say you DO someday get a hot date. You don't wanna be taking some hot slwhore out to dinner on a hot summer night w/o A/C. Otherwise her hair is gonna get all frizzed the **** out and shes gonna bitch and moan until the cows come home. KEEP THE A/C!!!!!
Taking the A/C out of a 20 year old car is alot different than taking the A/C out of a 1 year old car. I mean yeah, if I had some old 240 (no offense), it wouldn't matter one way or the other what I had in the car, just as long as the bitch ran.

Don't bother taking it off. It's not going to make much of a difference being there. Plus if you ever decide to get rid of it, the value will plummet even further than it already has.

first off picking hunnies up in a cobalt isnt the first thing that comes with the car. second not only do you loose weight you also reduce the rotating mass on your engine helping produce more power and reving up faster. the saying in the racing world is worry about the ounces and the pounds will come off. I also live in md, I have been contemplating this quagmire for a while and I am building a kit for it now. I say yes man up dont be dumb and if your chick is that superficial take her car so you save money or get a new one. YES
