camshaft position sensor

so my engine light just popped up on my 2.2l 06 cobalt and it said that my camshaft position sensor was bad. The ironic thing is the 2.2l ecotec engine doesnt even have a camshaft position sensor. So i changed the crankshaft position sensor to see if that would help and the light just popped back on. If anybody knows any answers please help me out... another thing is it runs fine but it starts up but when i start it it sounds like nails on a chalkboard for about 3 seconds after i start it up and then its fine. any ideas??
